OOohhh, I'm excited to see this when it's done! I had started a zig zag quilt for my son a few years ago but alas, never finished...he all of a sudden started to become mobile and I wasn't able to sew without him all over the place! Hopefully, one day soon I'll be able to go back to it. Although, I might have to add to it now since he'll no longer need it for his crib!

I love that quilt idea! I've never made a huge quilt before but my son really needs one for his bed and since I just can't find the right one I ought to just make it! Thanks for the great idea! I like that it's got lots of white in it and then you can just choose great fabrics that you like for colour. Can't wait to see how yours turns out!

this quilt is going to be stunning! I'm doing a HST quilt for our wee man (veeery slowly) I have the squares cut out but have only sewed a couple together because they seemed to wonk a little sewing across from corner to corner down the bias. I suspect I will be trimming them all down later so they are perfect, like Rita from Red Pepper Quilts.

Oh I love me a chevron quilt. I made my son's last summer in a twin size with alternating white rows and Alexander Henry's 2d zoo in Pool. I absolutely loved how it turned out! I did the same thing with sewing two squares together. Oops! I just pulled out my seam ripper, took the extra square off and resewed the other triangles back together. Can't wait to see the finished quilt!

What a lovely little quilt this will be! I'm going to link to this on FB. I'm so glad you liked your custom cut charm squares.... and in case no one else has yet offered this suggestion for your whoops, it looks from the photo like you can just rip out that seam and sew it back together with just one piece. That would then leave a solo printed HST and you would just have to manually cut a white one to sew it to. Hopefully that makes sense. Email me if you need me to explain better.

I love your HSTs! I feel your pain on lacking your quilt group. I joined my local guild in October and love it. Have you thought of checking with your local churches? My guild alternates between a church fellowship hall and a bank community room. (I'm new so I can't say whether we have to pay rent to use these spaces, but our membership dues aren't very much so I doubt if there is rent that it's very high.) You might also check with some of the local restaurants with party rooms. If you're showing up in the afternoon when it's dead maybe they'd let you use it if everyone agrees to purchase a snack or drink. Hope you guys find a home soon!

I just finished my first quilt top using HST! I did alternating zig zags of solid deep teal and white and LOVE it. I'm stumped on binding though- stick with a solid (like mustard) or a fun pattern? I've made a couple of quilts years ago but i really didn't know what i was doing... so i bought Whip Up's Mini Quilt book (just came in the mail today!)with the hopes of honing some good quilting skills. then i hope to make one for each of the kids and myself. i think zig zags are my fav for any type of blanket whether quilted, knitted or hooked.
