it's a good day by shannon cook
i love coffee.  i also love the start of a new journey.  since i'm revamping my home a bit i knew i wanted a lovely little pic to get printed and hang near my new desk.  i knew it had to have coffee in it..lol (of course right?).  instead of searching for something awesome on etsy or pinterest i really wanted to make something truly my own.  so i took the shot above and put a reminder to myself on it.  i can't wait to hang it up (and for all you coffee lovers out there if you'd like a copy shoot me an email and i would more than happily send one your way)! what do you have hanging in your creative space?

i've been working hard over the last few months to make some changes in my life. you know that never-ending journey of trying to find the ultimate work/life balance?  yep, that one.  so far it's been all positive, slow going albeit, but progress nonetheless.  i'm excited for what this year holds for me and when i read this post over on design for mankind last night erin just summed up all my thoughts so beautifully i had to share it.  i found her post so touching and inspiring and really a very special reminder that what i've been working towards is so worth it.  click here to go read her wonderful post. i swear i'm going to print it out and read it when i need a pick me up.  i hope you all enjoy it as much as i did.

what did you think about erin's post?  have you been striving to reach that balance?  are you trying to simplify and slow down to focus on your passions?  please share your thoughts.  i find this topic so interesting and such a great discussion starting point.  i hope you all have a wonderful weekend and i'll see ya next week with some new lovelies to share!  thank you all so much for the well wishes this week -  you guys are the best!  luvs <3

  3. Love the pic! I too LOVE coffee (though this decaf I've been drinking to fill the void since I've been pregnant is not cutting it!) Thanks also for sharing that link! I think I just had a life changing moment. I definitely do not have a work/life balance, and now more than ever I need to work on that. I feel a real sense of calm knowing that I'm going to figure it out, this has been very encouraging. Thanks Shannon!

    1. Thanks Tanis! I cut coffee when I was preggers too and it was sooooo hard. You're welcome about the link. I'm so glad it resonated with you as well. You will find a way to make it all work, it takes time but I know you will find a smooth path for you and your new babe :)

      have a lovely weekend!

  4. Hello Sharon. Happy International Women's Day. Is strange, in my country is almost a big celebration today (roses in public offices, and "Ladies first" all day), maybe because there is a long way yet for equality. Well, I read the post and is strange (again), I read a lot of post like this one in this last five month I guess and I feel the same. Priorities , what is really important, forget the tiny little details, share with your kids, share with your husband, don't blame yourself, smile. Why is that?, is something about age? is something in my food? (conspiracy theory) Is about social media and how is in everywhere and swallow us. I don't know, but think is important remember everytime we can. Thank you for share the post. And really would love to have a copy of that cup of coffe even if I am an espresso (ristretto better) person. Have a great weekend.

    1. Interesting, I agree that social media is everywhere and sometimes it's so overwhelming. I like to unplug when I go out. I def need a break each day.

Hope you enjoy the pic - I sent it your way! And happy international woman's day to you too!

    1. I know you love my weekend posts :) They are on a bit of a retirement right now so I can find more of my work/personal balance. I miss them but right now it's allowing me to spend more time with my kids and do more making of things instead of staring at my computer :)

      Congrats on the win!

  8. Just so you know you're completely to blame for my fabric purchase today...well partly at least ;) Goodness I read this, then Erin's post and well I was out and about without little ones and so I decided to get some new fabric for a project (who knows you may benefit from it) and ended up buying more just for me because is was on sale and so purdy :)

Excited to see your revamp of your sewing nook :)
