  3. Hi Shannon! Love your Flashback friday post... I always wondered, how did you learn to sew? By yourself or you took classes?

I want to sew more, especially with my little girl due soon. I want to make her clothes, quilt, etc... And I love making handmade gifts. For now I know only basic techniques. So how do you deepen your sewing skills? By looking at tutorials on the internet, ecourses... I have several patterns at home that I want to make but I always get stuck at some point because there are techniques that I don't know. I looked at classes in my town but they are either very expensive or are teaching basic or very advanced techniques, nothing in between!

Do you have any idea for me or where I can learn new techniques?

    Thank you so much!

    1. Hi Marie-Eve! I haven't taken any classes or e-courses. I am self taught and literally just jump in and try things. I like reading books, lots of books on sewing and then picking new tutorials, patterns to try but mostly I love drafting my own designs up and I've learned a lot doing that. I say go where your interests lie and start at a level you are comfy with and work your way up. The one thing I dont' recommend is trying something so completely above your skill level that you want to quit sewing all together. Everyone has to learn and flex their creative muscles so to speak so start small and learn the basics and build upon it. Enjoy!

    3. You are very welcome! thx for the kind words. I should also add I'm a very visual learner so I love watching videos and seeing tutorials over store bought overly commercial patterns. I also go to a monthly sewing group and being with others and showing them how to sew is a lot of fun for me to. I always learn new things.
