a little handmade goodness
i recently sent a little handmade xmas pressie off in the mail. i couldn't resist gifting a fun pieced zippered pouch, needlebook and a small project bag (not shown) for the receiver. it was hard to give away this grey/yellow combo pouch. i adore it and hope my friend does too. i also added in one of my fave xmas cards that were made up with all of my blog info and a special message inside from moo.com last xmas. i heart them so much i'm thinking of framing the last few i have to put up as holiday decorations. so cute!
the best part of sending my gift away (other than the fun of making someone a pressie) was receiving my pressie. how awesome was my gift below? she sure captured my personality! who can resist a grey velvet bow clutch, awesome fabrics and thread??? i did a very big happy dance when i opened my parcel. thank you so much heidi (of elegance & elephants). i looooove it!
what handmade pressies have you made this year? what's your favorite go to pattern to use when giving friends a gift? happy sewing ladies....coffee's on, come say hi!

Please leave a comment, I LOVE hearing from you!
Most of the time I try really hard to respond to comments right in the comments section, I find it more fun and that way other people can join in on the conversation. If you would like for me to write you back instead, just leave your email addy (blogger doesn't always give it to me) and I'll send you a hello!

Well I love your pretty Christmas cards! I have mine tucked away in a safe place & pull it out from time just to read.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been making too many things this year. Still I'm working right up to the deadline ;)
Happy Christmas to you and yours :)
Awwww, you're so sweet. Well you know I think of you everytime I put on my slippers :)
DeleteI just finished up a handmade present for my older little girl and it turned out better than I could have dreamt: http://ajennuinelife.blogspot.com/2012/12/tutorial-pb-kids-hello-kitty-toddler.html. Is it wrong to want a Hello Kitty sleeping bag for myself?
ReplyDeleteI love that! What a great idea!
DeleteI'm working on the last pair of socks, even after realizing I have to reknit 3 of the 4 because I didn't turn the heel properly. I now have 2/3 of the first sock to finish, the second sock, then to reknit the last sock mis-knit. I also want to get the stars sewn on to my son's sweater - he's going to need it really soon. I'd love to get it under the tree as well. Just about everyone (but the kids) have something handmade under the tree. I did really well this year, and am already planning next year (how insane am I?!). Between sewing and knitting and crocheting, I should be able to get presents done early, and wrapped, and all I will have to do in December is baking and decorating. That's my goal anyway! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are a busy and oh so productive momma! wowsa! Good job Laura and congrats again on the giveaway win!
DeleteI made a quilt for my brother and his wife to go on their couch, really hoping they like it. Have also cast on a pair of socks for my husband; he knows he won't get them on Christmas, but they're at least started.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they will love it! And as for the socks you are one step ahead of me, I have never made any yet. It's on my new years resolution.
DeleteSpeaking of which, yours is on the way!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lucky friend, such cute stuff you made! and that bow clutch is just fabulous.
I love giving (and receiving, harhar) handmade. the girls are learning to appreciate what I make but they still sure love their barbies and trucks!
I love to receive as much as I love to give too! I'll admit it...lol. It's fun! Ohhh..can't wait for my pressie! Yours will go out as soon as I dare to set foot in the post office again..lol. Hugs!
DeleteI can't remember the last time I was so excited to see a package in the mail, Shannon...seriously!! Just love it! Grey & yellow are my fave colour combo right now, so you nailed it with this gift! Thank you so much!
