to make these AWESOME wristwarmers from tiny owl knits asap...(the tails kill me!)..
to bite into these right now...
to try making these this xmas...
that i can continue my love of pine cone decor with crochet...
to frame this to look at when i'm exhuasted..lol....
and to have this exact outfit.
oh ladies...the weather here is atrocious right now. the rain is killing me and it's only just begun. yes, fall is amazing and i LOVE it but when you throw the monsoon like rains (i'm not exaggerating) in i can easily forget about the gorgeous leaves, knitwear and hot coffee. it makes me want to hole up inside and snuggle up under my quilt. it's yucky. hopefully the rains will die down a bit after a few weeks of this madness. we're crossing our fingers. believe me i can deal with rain, after having grown up in one of the rainiest towns and living for years in the rainiest city i can handle it, but i just can't like it.
the rains have also been interrupting the release of a new knitting pattern of mine. i need to do the photo shoot and the weather is just not cooperating. it's torturing me...lol! i'm so excited to show it to you guys so hopefully soon i'll get a nice weather day and can get the pics done. i think it's a super fun project that would make a great xmas gift!
i was also super excited yesterday when my first order from joanns (woot woot) arrived and i got a nice big box of batting for 50% off!!! thank you joanns for finally shipping to canada (the shipping rates are not bad at all!) - it's about time! so this weekend i will be busy quilting a new fave quilt that i will be sharing a free tutorial with you all for! yay! the sandwich is done and now it's quilting time!!! yay! my fave part! i can't wait to show you all!
my folks and omi have been here visiting for the last few weeks and it's been amazing to have them around. they leave after this weekend and i have to admit i will be a mess. it's going to be so strange not having them here anymore and we will all miss them and my omi horribly. i will prolly need some virtual hugs and some online consoling....wahhh!!! makes me teary eyed just thinking about it already.
so this weekend i will be spending as much time as possible with them, working on my quilt, knitting up a storm (2 new designs in the works) and cuddling up nice & warm with my little fam. wishing you all chocolate goodies, steaming coffee, sunshine filled fall days, warm mittens and lots of hugs kind of weekend.
what are you up to? what kind of fall weather are you dealing with? do you fall apart when your family leaves after visiting? what crafty projects are you up to this weekend? come...pull up a chair....the coffees brewing and i've got a cute mug with your name on it!

We are actually having a beautiful sunshiney day today on the Ridge. Think we might be going pumpkin picking this aft.
ReplyDeleteHoping the rain clears up for you soon!
I hate when my parents leave too. It's just so nice to have parents in town - somehow the weight of all my responsibilities feels more shared - like someone is there that takes care of me and I can relax more easily. Hope the rest of your time with them is sweet. Love the owl wrist warmers!
ReplyDeletei'm loving all of those pics this week, shan! i'm totally into comfort knitting these days.... completely selfish. ha. but that will change soon enough for the market coming up in november :) i haven't seen my side of the family in almost 2 years :( i know it totally sucks saying goodbye, i'm a horrible mess every time. xoxoxo let's get together SOON.

have a great weekend shannon! Hopefully the rains will hold off a little so you can get your photo shoot in. :)
ReplyDeleteOh Shannon, I so understand! It's been raining here quite a bit as well. It seems every weekend since September we've had crappy weather. The only thing I feel like doing is napping (fat chance).
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping the sun comes out and you get some beautiful photos. Ca't wait to see what you've come up with. Have a great weekend!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the pinecones, and love the owlies too - I wish I could knit and crochet - there are so many adorable patterns out there now!
ReplyDeleteA happy dance was done in my house as well, when I found out that Joanns started shipping here to Canada. My husband was mighty pleased as well, since he's the one that drives me Stateside when I have Joanns urges, LOL. I haven't needed to order yet as I've managed to sneak in trips when we've been near the border, and when we were in Watertown 2 weeks ago I picked up 3 queen sized quilt batts for $15 each (Fairfield Quilter's 80/20 blend - I mostly use my batting to make bags and crafts, not quilts). Compared to Fabricland's $80+ price for W'n'N it was a HUGE score! May I ask you how much they "surcharged" the shipping due to the size of the package? Their shipping rates are quite reasonable and when I did a trial order of 2 queen sized bats the "surcharge" was only $7! It was almost too good to be true (especially when compared to Canada Post rates) ... :D
I am so glad I read your blog! I had no clue that Joann's ships to Canada now . . . HOORAY! :)
ReplyDeleteAh, we are having monsoon-like conditions here in NY today but the weekend is supposed to be perfect Autumn weather so fingers crossed! I plan to knit in the sunshine and cool breezes as much as possible. Enjoy your lovely family!
ReplyDeleteMy parents live in England and I only get to see them once a year. I'm a complete basket case when it comes time for them to leave. I whole up in a corner with some knitting and cry my heart out and call them five times a day for the first few weeks until I calm down to the daily calls. Knitting is my sanity as always during these times.
ReplyDeleteI just finished a knitting project and am trying to decide whether to pick up an old one or cast on a new project this weekend. I think I'll head off right now and decide. My fingers are itching just talking about my parents.
I've gotta say, it's about time for Martinis here. Or maybe coffee with Bailey's!
ReplyDeleteMy parents come up at least every other week because my mother needs her Grandma fix. And she's Quinn's favorite person in the world. There have been a couple of times that I've actually had to ask them to NOT come because we had other things going on and I felt horribly guilty! My Dad brings me lovely baked goods and my Mom plays with my kiddo so I can sew.
It's been raining in Chicago almost all week. Our leaves are dropping rapidly off the trees...and it's been COLD.
My weekend crafting list:
Finish 1 two year old's leather Indiana Jones coat for Halloween
Start and Finish the door hanging for October (oops)
Start the November door hanging
Work on the quilt for my mother-in-law's christmas present (about 25% done)
Somewhere in there I need to add:
Watch football
Bake
Play with my kiddo (dinosaurs lately - RAWR!)
Snuggle with my hubby
Give the dog a bath
Think I can get it all done?
Ugh! We've had rain most of the week here too. Although I suppose I shouldn't complain. The week leading up to thanksgiving we had an early snowstorm. But still. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteI've got a few things beside the sewing machine to get working on (spiderman masks for the toddlers and a new fall purse for me) and I've also got a few knitting projects on the go (finishing up Moulin Rouge mitts for my 20 year old daughter and working on a sock design) plus a bajillion other Christmas gifts to start. Alas. Looks like painting the living room takes precedence this weekend. Boo.
I hope you have a fantastic weekend and that you see some sunshine soon!
HI!
ReplyDeletehere is terrible weather, heavy rain, and spring doesn´t come yet ...
I hope to get better soon for you and your family
I always read but never write, maybe my English is not very good but yes my good wishes.
Lula
Sounds like a fabulous weekend! I hope you got it all done, and the photoshoot too! Next time I'm near your home town we HAVE make it work! Maybe if I plan ahead a bit more. I have a better feel for how it goes with a crowd on that kind of trip now that I've done it. Have a fabulous week!
