and to make sure this is the year i finally get myself a yarn bowl.

yarn bowl from new moon studio
yes, the yarn bowl is back. i'm obsessing lately. i keep looking and looking for the perfect one but haven't come across it yet.  i'm waiting for it to find me but i'm getting antsy.  i need one.  i'm sick and tired of my yarn rolling around at home.  i'm trying to find something modern and clean and would rather just find it then have to order it online.  any of you recommend a shop where you got yours?

we've been chatting in the facebook group lately about me hitting my mid thirties next month...eeek! 35 here i come...bah!  i always have a hard time with the mid's.  i hated 25 and now i dread 35.  so now i've been hearing the hairdresser in me saying "get a change...freshen it up...you'll feel younger"! damn you inner hairdresser.  plus i'm a gemini so i like mix it up with my hair.  i blame it on starting to work in a salon when i was 14.  lots and lots of years of hairdressing has engraved itself into my soul.  i cannot stick with one style for too long :)  unfortunately my absolute fave hairdresser is on a sabbatical so i'm trying out a coworker of hers.  my hairdresser has helped me grow my hair quite long which is a feat in itself since i have very fine hair that i like to say is bald.  so it's a miracle i haven't chopped it off earlier.  but i'm feeling the summer heat and thinking i would love to be able to wash and wear again.  longing for shoulder length.........what about you guys? anyone else contemplating a new change?  a shout out to rachael from imagine gnats who bit the bullet and chopper hers off after our fb convo! she looks fab!

i've also got naps and ocean breezes on the mind.  i need a break.  a mini holiday of sorts.  thankfully it's a long weekend here in canada so i most likely will be taking monday off to spend some much needed time with the fam. so i'm wishing you all blue skies, ocean breezes, sleepy daydreams, crafting galore and good times with family/friends!  see you all next week!

what are your weekend wishes?  any plans?  crafty projects you wish to accomplish?  hair cuts to get done...lol?  come chat! there's a latte here and it's yours if you want it <3

  2. My weekend plans include a Mystery Quilt class tomorrow from 12 to 9pm, not sure if my baby boy can hold out that long but I'm going to attempt it. Then Sunday my best buds are hosting a Sip and See for me, it's like a baby shower, but after the fact, so everyone can sip yummy beverages and see the cute baby! So I think it's going to be a fabulous weekend here. We have a long weekend NEXT week due to Memorial day on the 28th. Hope you have a relaxing weekend!

  3. Yarn bowls are so cute. Mine would need a cage with a lock do my kids can't mess with it. Hmm....

My hands are itching to trim my hair, but it looks like we will be too busy. I'm in the middle of painting my living room gray before Tim starts the flooring. My weekend wish is to survive this construction project with my sanity and uninjured kids.

Today is Friday so that means Friday wine. I save the good stuff for Friday (the 7.99$ bottle as opposed to the 3.99$ bottle on Monday LOL. Yay trader joes!). I'm hoping to sip some wine and get my banyan shorts cut out without effing up.

  5. I'd love to replace my plastic mixing bowl with a lovely yarn bowl too! I saw the cutest teapot used as a yarn bowl recently....
I'm with you on the hair front. I'm forever cutting mine off real short or growing it long... And I'm not even a Gemini. Right now I am desperate need of a cut - my girls want me to grow it.... when did they get to have an opinion on MY hair!

  7. the bowl I use for mine is just a pretty piece of pottery with a leaf cutout on the side. there isnt a fancy place to hold the yarn or a slit. its just a bowl that makes me happy. I took a few naps this past week and it was heavenly after burning every ounce of energy I had and then some last weekend. My son got married. ;) it was beyond beautiful and they are so happy. I am thrilled that I was able to help with all the decorations and flowers. It just makes it hard being the mother of the groom, wife to the best man, and mother of the flower girl- in addition to all I took on with decorations!I have been dreaming of smelling the salt air too..... maybe next week we can load up and go to the beach. Have a great weekend!

  8. I saw the best looking yarn bowls at a booth at an arts festival in our nearby town. Go and look at the pottery at the next art fair you go to. I bet you come home with an awesome yarn bowl, hand made for you! And maybe an apple baker and a platter and a big bowl, and a cute mug and a spoon rest for the stove and a dish for the coffee table...oh wait that was just what I wanted to buy!!!!

  9. I have already hit my mid thirties and soon will be hitting late thirties....blimey, when did that happen?? All I can say is 'roll with it'! As for yarn bowls, I feel like I too need one in my life....just fairly sure I'll find cheerios or sultanas at the bottom of mine - the joy of little people in the house!

  10. I'm 32, and I SOOO feel the need for a change of hair! My problem is, I want something completely wash and wear, no muss, no fuss. The only way to get that is either keep it long, or go short. The problem with going short is that it takes too much upkeep (frequent trims). I haven't gotten a yarn bowl yet - I've had them on the brain too recently! My LYS had some a couple of years ago; I think they were done by a local artist. As for my weekend wishes, I wish I could get away to a beach/mountains/somewhere without having to clean. I also wish my house would clean itself. I second the suggestion to go to a local craft fair and find a potter there.
