it's friday chickas!!!!!  yahoo!  i love friday.  in fact i love friday even more today because i got my free drink coupon in the mail from starbucks yesterday! man i love being a gold card member.  it's free and i get free drinks and savings!  can't beat that.  although i did have to stand in a lineup out to the door (yes, seriously) to get my venti drink today.  and yes...i ordered a venti...mmmmm...come to mama...if it's free you can bet i'm ordering the biggest size! YUM!

so the hubs and i are chatting about getting one of those coffee machines that make single cups.  what we want to know is which one is your fave - keurig or tassimo?  they both seem to have good qualities and i'm curious from those of you who have one if you enjoy it.  we both need all the coffee we can get at the moment to survive till the fall :)

i'm also very nervous about my recent bathing suit purchase. i finally bit the bullet and ordered this suit from land's end in black. i really, really, really wanted the coral but they didn't have my size in stock.  i wasn't going to order a suit but then my mom so sweetly pointed out they have 30% off and free shipping right now so i went for it.  i'm scared it's not gonna fit and i'm' going to end up with my girls schlupping out and a nice ol'muffin top...lol.  cross your fingers for me....lol.  thank god i can return it if it doesn't fit...or at least i hope i can?  maybe i should have read that part...lol - ordering bathing suits online is nerve wracking dude!  if i don't like it i'm totally ordering a retro style one piece.  the only reason i didn't order one of those already is the hubs didn't seem to keen on the style.  we'll see what happens.....nervous!

we've had some nice weather around here lately and i've been dreaming of getting our deck done and sipping some nice adult bevvies out there cuddling with the hubs when the wee ones are asleep.  we've got all our plants planted and the bbq set up...now we're just putting some finishing touches here and there and doing some cleaning and then we'll hopefully be sitting out there sooner than later.  i think my knitting would be super fast if accompanied by my deck, sunshine and a stiff drink...muahahah.

wishing you all a warm, yummy bevvy, cuddles, sunshine, crafty, sleep filled kinda weekend!  what are your weekend plans?  do you find bathing suit shopping online scary too?  which coffeemaker do you prefer keurig or tassimo?  see you all monday peeps!

  1. I'll chime in on the coffee maker question. I have a Tassimo and LOVE it. (Aside from the couple of months that I couldn't get the cappuccinos or lattes because of the recall.) If you drink more of the lattes, mocha lattes, cappuccinos or other milk drinks, do the Tassimo. If you're more the regular coffee/flavored coffee type, do the Keurig. Keurig coffees are a whole lot easier to find and have so many different flavors, but they don't have the milk drinks yet.

  2. gah, bathing suit shopping is *almost* as bad as jean shopping, lol. You picked a cute suit though!

We have a Keurig (got the Platinum version from Costco, so it has 4 cup sizes) LOVE IT!! we also got the "My K-cup" so you can use your own coffee if you'd like.

  3. I don't know anything about the single serves, but I must tell you I've been LOVING cold-brewing. It just tastes awesome and is so easy to do.
Weekend wishes is to do some hardcore moving-related stuff and get organized for Noelle's little party next week.
I really want to wear my Gemini top for the party but I'm not sure if I can finish it by then.
I'm lucky enough to have a friend who designs bathing suits and lucky me gets a custom one for my b-day this year! Woot woot! Definitely excited about that part of moving to L.A....the beach!

  4. I am not really much of a coffee drinker but my husband is so we did get a Keurig and I LOVE it. I like that it can brew tea and I have become a little addicted to the sweet southern iced tea. The kids have also been enjoying hot chocolate...saves me form having to make it. And I am learning that I actually do like coffee...black.

    1. Oh yay! that's what I wanted. I didn't want the boobs hanging out while I'm chasing them at the pool. Plus I need the underwire for my tatas..lol.

  7. Love your weekend wishes, Shannon. I despise bathing suit shopping, it puts me in a foul mood for days. I'm thinking online shopping would be ideal. When it arrives in the mail, I'd have a couple of those stiff drinks and then try it on - wishing you a successful test run in the suit and may your weekend be happy and full of venti coffees!

    1. Hahahaha...I think I hate bathing suit shopping either way but I'm going to do what you said...pour a nice stiff drink and try that bad boy on when it comes. I just may do it at night too with soft lighting..LMAO!

  8. good luck with the suit! I've tried finding one and got nowhere. It's funny that you got one from land's end because I only became aware of that store when I hit the mall to find a suit. I walked through their section of Sears and had to stop to drool over a bunch of their stuff. So much nautical goodness! Their bathing suits were the closest to anything I would wear, but the prices were too high for me considering I don't really even want to wear a bathing suit in the first place. I have been telling Tim that I want one of those old style ones with little shorts at the bottom. The world doesn't need to see my white ass hanging out in the sunshine.

One of these days I need to head back into Land's End to drool over their stuff. Maybe if I hit a sale I can snatch something really great that will stay in my wardrobe for a long time.

    1. Our Sears here doesn't have Lands End in the store or that would be ideal. Only reason I bought my suit is that it was 30% off and free shipping. Was a good deal when compared to the suits I saw in other stores....way out of my price range at the moment. I'll let you know how it turns out.

When it came to the retro suits theirs were adorable too. Also Modcloth's suits were awesome...my hubs just didn't like that style.

  9. Moose finally broke down and bought a keurig last week. He's been using one for years at work and loves it.
I hate bathing suit shopping too, nothing ever seems to fit right!

  10. Thanks to those of you who commented about the coffeemakers. Sounds like Keurig is the way to go. I love lattes/cappucinos but I also love that Keurig has the attachment to brew what I want as well. That's selling it for me at the moment.

  11. That is a totally sexy bathing suit - and thank you for putting up a link to it, because I have been despairing of wearing XXL separates from Walmart just to be able to cover my boobs. First pregnancy, hello bosoms! I haven't been able to find a decent-looking suit for anything, but I'd totally forgotten about Land's End. Even better, I have a giftcard from a pair of (mail-order) maternity slacks my mom ordered me a while back!

Speaking of, LE's return policy is excellent and very simple should you need to utilize it. Hopefully you shouldn't. :)

    1. Ohhh...so excited you may shop for a suit from there too! Happy bathing suit shopping and here's to them both fitting us awesome :)

  12. Get a Keurig! We love ours! Tassimo discs are scant on variety and hard to come by, though the brewing system is ingenious. Good luck with the bathing suit! Fingers crossed!

  13. Have a great weekend and a Happy Mothers Day too (don't know if you celebrate it this weekend but I like to wish all mothers happy mothers day anyway)! I got a $25 swimsuit from H&M and felt awesome until I got it home and went to wear it to the pool and it didn't cover my bum! Tried it on w/ underwear in the store. Gah!!! Anyway, we have a Keurig and love it. :)

  14. I'm a bigger fan of the Keurigs. I've used both and just find them easier! Also yummier. The Keurigs have cups that you can reuse too. I'm so jealous that your getting one of those machines! I sooo want one! If only my hubby would agree that it makes sense!!

  15. Hey, I'm a regular reader...but not commenter. I have a Tassimo in my classroom (jr/sr. high school Home Ec teacher) and I love it. But...Keurig allows you to re-use cups and use your own coffee. I'm in a major city, so variety isn't bad... I just love being able to have variety (lattes, cappucinos, coffee, etc.) That being said, if I had to do it again, I'd probably buy the Keurig instead.
Good luck with the bathing suit. Have you thought about sewing one for yourself? Really not hard and you don't need a very specific pattern necessarily. I've got a tank top pattern I used and my underwear pattern I adapted to make my own tankini. I sacrificed a bra that was "going" and it worked.

  16. Heya,
Tassimo T discs generally retail for $0.60 for a standard cup of coffee.
Keurig's K cups cost $0.72 for a normal cuppa joe.
Each pod is generally less than 10g so if you average it out, you would end up spending ~$27 per lb for tassimo standard roast coffee and $32 for the standard Keurig coffee.

To put it into perspective, 1lb of Level Ground organic direct trade coffee is just under $17.

I've long been an advocate for the "hidden costs" of those single cup brewers. Unless you're only drinking a single cup a day and would be dumping a whole pot of coffee - or don't feel like using a single serving machine/frech press, a Keurig or Tassimo machine is essentially going to double your coffee budget.

I have to admit though, I still get that consumer urge to buy one everytime I see a Keurig though... :P

    1. You rock hun! Great points to make and you hit the nail on the head....I only drink one cup usually and so I'm wasting the whole pot. We're going to use our Air Miles to get one and I think we're going with the Keurig.

  17. Hi Shannon,
Have to agree with Mae above, the cost is a little more for the single serves, but the Keurig does give you the option to purchase ground coffee, so you don't always have to use the cups. My MIL loves her's. Unfortunately working at Starbucks, my husband and I couldn't do one cup each. And a little tip from the Stabucks world, they have launched the K-Cups for Keurig, and we will be getting there here in Canada very soon.
    Have a happy mother's day!

  18. I love my Keurig. I know I'm spending more, but I still LOVE it! The coffee is so much fresher and I don't waste nearly as much!
I hope you love your Land's End suit. I won't buy a suit anywhere else. They are such great quality!

  19. I still love my stovetop coffee maker... But, in case you despair of the bathing suit, because of size discrepancies... Check out bravissimo (on the net), they do cup sizes for all kinds of cute stuff! I only wish I could afford their stuff. I regularly stalk their sales page, lol. I have been a bad, bad girl, and have done zilch on my summer kal top, but, otoh, I have sorted a pattern, and started a most gorgeous shrug for moi. Does that count? Hope you are enjoying your ventis, your knitting, but most of all, your hubs and kidlets! xxx
