moments in the mommyhood - octoberfest!

the other weekend we decided to get right into the fall/halloween spirit and head out to oldfield orchard for their fun "octoberfest" celebration.  what better way to end a warm, sunny, fall weekend then with pumpkins, face painting...

hay rides...

totally different reaction to the hay ride for both girls..lol

cotton candy with friends...

tractor pull rides...

and my fave of the day - the maze!

do we look confused? hahaha, we didn't get lost but we did have a ton of fun in there.  i'll spare you our homemade blair witch project videos in the maze and of course, the one of our poor child crying as we took  her through the haunted house she begged us to go in...priceless though, honestly..priceless.  one of those videos you just know you will play at her wedding..lol!  don't you just love halloween goodness?  i'm a prankster at heart so anything halloween is fun in my books.  i'm counting down the days till trick or treating :)  bring on the spooky!

what does your family do to celebrate fall and halloween?  do you go to any kind of farm festivals?  do you trick or treat or stay home to hand out candy?  we don't get trick or treaters at our door so we are all about trick or treating ourselves. super fun!  i got a coffee sitting right here for ya with your name on it...c'mon over...let's chat :)

  2. So much fun! And oh my goodness what a splendiferous cowl you are sporting there my dear - awesome work. Halloween is approaching rapidly...and I still have a whole lot of strips of tulle on my dining room table that need to be ruffled and attached to the mermaid skirt/tail I'm making. AWESOME. Apparently this year I'm celebrating by sending my daughter out half dressed! Wahoo!

    Happy Halloween.

  7. @wheresheloved - I had been looking for 2 years for a pair that fit over jeans that looked like my new babies. I found them in a pile in a corner at Old Navy on sale!!! Fate I tell ya!

  8. You look so glamorous in your new cowl, hot mama! And the kids look so happy...
I grew up in a city in Ohio where Octoberfest is Oktoberfest and has a slightly different feel (bratwurst, beer, and hooliganism)...but your version looks super fun too!

  10. The maze and haunted house sound like so much fun! Aussies are just getting into the halloween vibe, we have been trick or treating for years, but now the stores sell pumpkins to carve and lots of decorations too. Last week, my girls and I made a Halloween Gingerbread House and I made my eldest daughter a Care Bear Costume. That's all so far, but looking forward to the big day. Must say, you look fantastic! And I love the cowl and those gorgeous boots!

  11. What fun. Love the cowl too. We spent the day with fantastic friends celebrating Halloween. The kiddos enjoyed frosting and decorating cookies, eating caramel apples and having a grand time. The mamas sat, talked, knit and laughed. What a good day.

  13. Looks like a blast. The kids are adorable as always!
We always go apple-picking to kick off the fall season, and it's a whole day adventure with picnic and all.
I'm still trying to come up with some good Halloween traditions.
