  1. I had somehow missed the post about the quick T, I am definetly trying that! Thanks for the push to try knits again (after a few failed attempts).

  2. The only trick I have for working with knits is if you've got a thiner knit fabric or just slippery I stick a scrap piece of freezer paper under the fabric and sew as usual...the paper helps the fabric hold still and not slip as easily and prevent thin fabric from getting caught in the feed dogs or stretching horribly.

I found some turquoise stretch velvet for $4 a yard and I'm planning on using it to make me a lovely Amy Cardigan.

Can't wait to see the other tutes you've been working on.

  3. Anna - Have fun sewing! It really is easy :)

Buffy - Great tips! Can't wait to see your Amy Cardi and the 7 MODify dresses! You rock girl!

  4. My husband made me a little video of my favorite sewing with knits hack.

I prefer the look of a hemmed knits so I use a basting stitch to mark the hemline and then hold the fabric in place with gluestick glue. It works awesome!

  5. I have no I'm still building up the nerve to try some of these awesome tutorials. I'm a new follower here, but came over from Noodlehead. Laughed out loud at the dialogue you had with your overhang. Maybe if I start talking to mine, it'll go away? :)
    I think I'll tackle a cardigan...I too love a great drapey cardi.

  6. Does this mean that you are feeling better? That is good news! I want to finish my kal sweater and can't find the pattern for the sleeves!!!!!!! Still need to find the courage to sew with knits!

  7. I love this blog! Thanks for the tips on knits. I am starting my first knit shirt in ages. I am having a lot of trouble with puckering when I sew. I will try the freezer paper trick mentioned above. Thanks again.
