have you guys been having fun with sewing with knits mondays?  i have!  unfortunately though today is the last day :(  anna and i had only intended it to be for 4 mondays and we ended up having such a good time we extended it for a few weeks but the time has come for it to end....but not forever - maybe just until next year??  hint hint anna :P

i've been so inspired by sewing with knits mondays that i am going to keep going.  they may not be as regular as every monday but i do have a few more tutorials that are already in the works that i'll be bringing to you folks.  i've been working with some awesome organic sustainable knits that i can't wait to show you all as well!  so stay tuned!  the knits aren't gone, they are here to stay!  but in the meantime let's take a look at all the fab goodies that were made during "sewing with knits mondays" from anna of noodlehead, me, and our fabulous guests - katy of no big dill, jess of craftiness is not optional, sascha of piccoli piselli and abby of sew much ado plus our giveaways from lil blue boo and made!  what a month and a half! wowsa! so fun!

  1. I had somehow missed the post about the quick T, I am definetly trying that! Thanks for the push to try knits again (after a few failed attempts).

  2. The only trick I have for working with knits is if you've got a thiner knit fabric or just slippery I stick a scrap piece of freezer paper under the fabric and sew as usual...the paper helps the fabric hold still and not slip as easily and prevent thin fabric from getting caught in the feed dogs or stretching horribly.

I found some turquoise stretch velvet for $4 a yard and I'm planning on using it to make me a lovely Amy Cardigan.

Can't wait to see the other tutes you've been working on.

  4. My husband made me a little video of my favorite sewing with knits hack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8o47VZaSsCk

I prefer the look of a hemmed knits so I use a basting stitch to mark the hemline and then hold the fabric in place with gluestick glue. It works awesome!

  5. I have no tips...as I'm still building up the nerve to try some of these awesome tutorials. I'm a new follower here, but came over from Noodlehead. Laughed out loud at the dialogue you had with your overhang. Maybe if I start talking to mine, it'll go away? :)
    I think I'll tackle a cardigan...I too love a great drapey cardi.

  7. I love this blog! Thanks for the tips on knits. I am starting my first knit shirt in ages. I am having a lot of trouble with puckering when I sew. I will try the freezer paper trick mentioned above. Thanks again.
