moments in the mommyhood - slacker...well sort of...

i'm slacking today.  yesterday was my anniversary with the hubs so i didn't spend all night on the computer...well, ok, i did spend most of it, but not as much as normal.  so this is a bit of a slacker post that i couldn't resist doing because last night at like 10:00pm i found the above awesome of awesome pic on pinterest and could not wait until friday to post it.  i seriously need this blown up on my wall.  i love it that much.  i'm sick like that, i know.  but almost everyday i feel as though i need a starbucks iv and have said it on many occasions on here so i only thought it fitting to share it with all of you.

i also haven't been sleeping well this week.  not due to the kids, they have been sleeping better, but due to my own little brain.  i'm sure a lot of you can relate, especially creative types.  i'm having a hard time calming down my little noggin because i'm feeling so crafty at the moment.  it's the new machine.  it's so nice to sew on i want to sew even more than ever before and the ideas they keep a coming but this momma can't make them.  not enough time in the day.  but those ideas?  they don't leave me alone.  it's like they fester until i get them done.  i even write down ideas in the middle of the night.  any of you do that too?

i've also been having nightmares :(  yes....i'm a loser.  the scary movie i watched the other day (insidious) is seriously still freaking me out.  can this even be possible?  i had nightmares all night last night.....really bad sleep and couldn't bring myself to turn the tv off cause i was so eeby jeebied..lol.  i think i have too much of an overactive imagination and i also fall into that 1% category from the print above...haha.  i think i seriously need to A) stop watching horror movies and B) think about the feng shui in my bedroom.  i'm not really into feng shui, but hey, if it's gonna help me not freak out like a little baby every night i'm willing to give it a try.

on a happier note wanna see some of my fave pics from my wedding 3 years ago? i love seeing other peoples...i'm nosy like that..haha.  in case anyone is interested we got married in tofino, bc on mackenzie beach. yep.  cheese factor with the mackenzie beach part but we just couldn't help ourselves we love that beach.  it was such a gorgeous day and even though the pics look rainy, it wasn't.  the sun had been shining and a gorgeous mist had rolled onto the beach.  perfect day.

look how tiny mackenzie was?  Awww....

oh, and our anniversary, well mackenzie closed all the drapes all over our condo and insisted we set the table, candles, wine glasses and all and put on romantic music.  she picked out my clothes (she even attempted to choose my bra and underwear which i of course told her was taking it just one step too far), told me how to do my hair and then dressed her and harper.  it was the cutest thing when the hubs walked in the door with flowers and there we all were...i had a good chuckle, oh and the hubs scored major points for the flowers :)

how has your week been?  sleeping or not sleeping?  any of you going to join me and gynnab (fb pal) for some starbucks iv?  c'mon...you know you wanna....lol.

  2. omg, I am totally that 1% that is convinced somebody is out to kill her. we had to stop watching CSI a long time ago because I could barely make it up the stairs to our bedroom at night without freaking out.

we just celebrated our anniversary too! on the 16th. 6 years for us

love the coffee IV. gives a new meaning to "drip coffee" huh? haha. after 2.5 years of sleep deprivation - never having a child that could consistently sleep through the night in that period - I can't even start reading my kids stories in the morning without slurring my words if I haven't finished my coffee. Clover is so used to me with my special cup that she pretends "coffee" with her water cups and marches around with empty mugs saying "Coco's coppee!" ...that is when she isn't playing beer time. Lol.

  6. Shannon, that is the cutest thing that Mackenzie did that!!! So sweet! The photos are awesome. The one of your husband and her makes the heart melt.

I hope you're sleeping better soon. I know how you feel. I've gotten the bright idea of writing an ebook and now my wheels won't stop turning!

On a side note... I used my serger!!!! I even rethreaded it with white thread... and it still works!!! I probably already tweeted this to you-can't remember. I'm excited. Chat with you soon!

  7. Happy Anniversary! We are celebrating ours tonight:) 7yrs!

totally know what you mean about the active brain... i used to meditate... don't have time now, so i just give myself the permission to have the thoughts for 10 more min and then it's sleep time.

I used to be a CSI, Without a Trace, Criminal Minds junkie and when i got pregnant with my first i started having nightmares.... same happened with the second and now i just leave the room when they come on or concentrate on hooking or knitting... i think it has something to do with being a mom and being protective of the ones we love, and frightened about some of the sick sh*t that goes on out there.... got to be something hormonal. anyway, best thing to do is stop watching, your life will be a whole lot better for it.

  8. I totally relate to everything in this post. Especially the "when you're home alone and someone knocks on the door" part :) I'm totally the sneaky ninja type! Love it. And I totally freak myself out when I watch scary movies. I used to love them, but now I can't watch anything remotely scary.
Also, I too have been laying in bed not sleeping for all of the ideas rolling around in there. My sewing room is currently piled up with probably about a dozen projects that I have started in the past couple of days and I was just about to cut out another! Ridiculous.

Hope you get some rest soon. And happy anniversary!

  11. I'm totally part of that 1% that gets freaked out. I seriously can't even watch commericals for horror films, I get that freaked out. When my hubbie is out of town, I either sleep on the sofa with the TV on or pile pillows up beside me in bed so I feel like he's there! Funniest thing is that he's a very heavy sleeper, so someone could come into our house, turn on the stereo and he'd sleep through it all. A lot of help that would be! :) Happy Anniversary.

  12. CONGRATS on your anniversary! And adorable! I love your wedding pics!

I know me better than to watch scary movies. When I was like twelve I read a zombie book and honest to goodness, I did not sleep for a week. It was the middle of winter and I was trying to use logic on myself and be like, "zombies would get stuck to the ice" (the zombies in the book lived in a lake and came out at night.) Worst thing was, the book was meant for kids slightly younger than me. I just have an overactive imagination! I started hyperventilating during Resident Evil because Chris wouldn't turn it off, until he realized I was actually literally hyperventilating. (sleep deprivation related to a switch to night shift helped that one along.) There is no maybe, hmmm, curious for me. It's just, no. Not happening. Do not want. It's not even like the movies are generally so bad, it's the days or even weeks AFTER the movies.
However, oddly enough, I like vampire/werewolf films, no matter what they're like! I just watched the Red Riding Hood movie, me likie. Most mythical bad critters - the more traditional ones - I'm cool beans with. Zombies and murderers and sadists and ghosts and possession? nope!
And yes, I am lurking just past my curtains peeking around when there's noises after dark. Once its dark the curtains are closed so I can see everyone and everyone can't see me!

  14. I love seeing wedding photos. Last year for our 10th year I posted wedding photos on my blog. Strange thing though, my husband doesn't like to celebrate our wedding anniversary, he prefers to celebrate out first date-iversary! We just celebrated 16 years.

  15. Just "stumbled" upon your blog and I'm loving it! Your sewing and tutorials, your pics, your stories... I live in the Netherlands, 51 years old, used to be a stay at home mum and recognise everything!! Guess I'm not the first to tell you that you should enjoy every single minute of it, it's gone before you know it. Love from The Hague

  16. One of the reasons why I like visiting your blog so much is because it has become a daily reference I can use in order to learn new nice stuff. It's like a curiosities box that surprises you over and over again.
