to make all you sleep and coffee deprived mommas laugh...
so we can all stop looking like this from lack of sleep...
that one day the hubs & i can take a road trip again...
that it doesn't rain this weekend...
to one day have one of these lovelies in my home...
to sleep here for a whole day...sans kidlets...
to get my hands on this lovely stash of doilies...
and to be able to eat wheat and sugar again so i could chow down on this for my birthday on monday.
that's right folks. i'm gonna be another year older on monday. i'll be the big 34. yep. it's scary but not as scary as 35 will be. i have a fear of the mid's. i didn't like turning 25 and i know i'll hate turning 35. something about being mid something. like you're at the hump and it's all downhill into you are in the earlies again. it's irrational, but hey, sometimes my brain works like that. i have nothing planned to celebrate my being born except for causing a ruckus at knit night on saturday. i'm hoping for shots of espresso and some serious table dancing right ladies? j/k (just so you all don't think i'm nuts we have our knit nights at a cafe that is open late and has live music).
the hubby is busy, busy this weekend so i'll be taking care of the kiddos while sleep and caffiene deprived and hoping to get some time to go sewing machine shopping. that's what i'm getting for my bday but i still have to go try some out and pick out my new baby! needless to say i am very, very excited!!!! i'm also a wee bit behind on returning some of your emails (sorry about that) but will catching up with you all soon. i've got some fun stuff planned for next week so stay tuned.
i'm on row 16 of my sweater for the summer sweater knit along!!!!!!!! i can't stop knitting now and have to keep reminding myself to sew. sometimes it's just easier to knit because i can sit with the kids and play and they have no idea i'm secretly very joyous inside because i've tricked them into thinking "mommy's not working" but really i'm knitting. we're women and mothers right? we can multitask amongst the best of them.
i hope your weekends are filled with sleep and lots of it. i hope those of you working along in the KAL get time to relax and knit and those of you sewing get lots of time in stitch bliss :) enjoy the sunshine and your families and have a wonderful weekend. see ya on monday!
what are your plans this weekend? has your toddler suddenly decided it's a newborn again & depriving you of some serious sleep? do you have a newborn? what are you crafting or cooking? let's chat.
Oops - edited to add that we'll also be celebrating father's day round here...in my sad state i forgot. all i can think about is sleep and new sewing machines. selfish momma..haha.

This weekend I fully intend on having this baby (at least I keep telling myself) That way I would have a new born to blame my sleep deprivation on, and not just getting up to pee a million times a night!
ReplyDeleteRight now I am knitting a layette set for my friend in Northern Manitoba that is due this October, but seriously considering making something for myself this weekend since I just learned how to make socks. :D
Okay I wince typing this because I always feel awkward about my age when I'm talking to other bloggers, but I totally know what you mean about the MID birthdays. I feel the same way but I've never managed to verbally 'put a finger on it' the way you just did.(and this next sentence is the sentence I wince over at the thought of you maybe wincing over.) The idea of being thirty doesn't intimidate me in the least but the fact that I'm turning 25 in October kind of makes my heart seize a little.
ReplyDeleteOh well I'm working on a {crochet} granny square baby girl blankie (too bad I don't have a baby girl) and a soft ripple blanket... I don't know how to knit I have tried several times and can't get the hang of it (any suggestions?).
ReplyDelete& We are celebrating my hubbs' first father's day :) and going to see family!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I finally get my kitchen finished this weekend. My husband and I started a small remodel about a month ago and it's still not finished. It's functional, but still a mess and driving me crazy. The tools and supplies are on my last nerve since I can't stand clutter.
ReplyDeleteI'm also hoping to get some knitting in since I'm working on my sweater for the KAL as well as 3 test knits.
Well I too am in love with my KAL sweater. I started one of the fronts first and I have 6 or 7 inches dones already! So excited.
ReplyDeleteThis weekend I'm hoping to get some curtains sewn up...it is a creative challenge for myself to make them without going to the fabric store to get anything but to use what I have. There are 4 that I must make and the measurements are 54 x 68 inches. Yup! My brain is telling me they're going to be epic so we'll see. If I accomplish this I will be so excited & proud.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Happy Birthday on Monday! May the coming year bring you weekend wishes all week long! :)
ReplyDeleteOur 2.5yo has started sleeping like a newborn again, and our 8 month old baby seems to wake up exactly halfway between his screams. I thought the sleep deprivation would be improving by now, not getting worse.
ReplyDeleteI'm buying a hot glue gun this weekend, and have a project to make out of my huge supply of cardboard boxes. I've got to finish sewing up a pyjama top for my baby girl this weekend too. I hope I can concentrate enough through the sleep-deprivation haze to not injure myself!
Happy Birthday! I'm 34 too, but I keep forgetting how old I am and have to calculate it. I'm just so much more comfortable with who I am as I get older that the number doesn't mean much to me anymore.
Our kids are on vacation at their grandparents' house - 1100 miles away! Today we went to the store and pick up his Father's Day present (a Nook) and tomorrow we are going to the Farmer's Market in the morning... then on Sunday, we're road tripping it an hour south to Sarasota so I can go visit A Good Yarn!! Monday is our wedding anniversary so we have a very busy couple of days.
ReplyDeleteI hope you and kidlets are able to snuggle down for some naps and that the coffee fairy visits you often... and have a fabulous birthday - as someone who will be 39 this year, it's been fabulous being on this side of the hump!
oh wow girl you're older than me (by just a couple months tho)? NO WAY. I would have totally guessed 20's from your pics. Just sayin'.
ReplyDeleteAnd hee I totally love that you forgot father's day. I have been forgetting all about it too. Oop.
Here's to more sleep for you. Our toddler has been waking up multiple times each night as well. Last night she refused to go to sleep and played in the living room until nearly midnight. We just gave up bringing her back into her room over and over and let her play. Not the kind of parent I expected to be. I'll be better tomorrow, haha.
^ Well see now I'm not the only one who thinks you look like you're in your twenties.
ReplyDeleteI think a coffeemachine would be a really great fathers day present... if you buy it at Canadian Tire it's like twice as manly. That's actually where mine is from, it was half price in a flyer one day and I pounced!
Ok, so weird. I left a comment on here and I can't see it anymore?? WTH?
ReplyDeleteOk..thanks to everyone for the kind words about my age...I wish I could hear that everyday..haha. You guys are sweet though..so thank you.
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and yes, laura, a coffeemaker would be a fab pressie! We;re trying to find one before I lose it..haha.
I hope you guys got caught up on sleep..I got a bit more than the last week so I am more than happy. the hubs let me sleep in a bit.
thanks again everyone!
We share the same birthday! Happy Birthday to us! I'm past the midi's - 37. My toddler went through that sleep thing a few weeks ago, but she seems to be doing better lately - thank goodness, because I'm 25 weeks pregnant and I don't need her waking me on top of the 5 trips to the bathroom each night! I'm trying to knit along - I made my first fair isle sweater for daughter #2 and started a matching one for Arden, but I've been spending most of nap times working on a crib quilt for the new baby's room. I need to block the little sweater and post about it, and I should have something on the quilt to share soon! www.ajennuinelife.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Hon!! Hope you have a fab day - if you think 34 is bad just wait 'til you reach 39! I'm soooo going back to 36 and staying there! My 8 year old is sleeping like a newborn at the moment - sorry that doesn't give you much to look forward to does it? I advise blusher and mascara - I look human whilst feeling bleugh!
ReplyDeletePS check you daily - hardly ever comment. Soz! Keep up the good work xxooxx
Where have I been. I've got my act together and am now following your witty little blog. I love that you're making sweaters in the summer. Last summer I was making Christmas decor. Happy birthday today!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I hope it's filled with all the people and things you love.
