oh my gosh ladies, i love this pattern...just sayin. there is something so irresistible about a little girl in a bonnet. never mind an adorable and reversible peekaboo bonnet.
when you add some piping....
and might i say a cute as a button toddler or baby....i mean honestly...how can you resist this??? she knows she's cute...lol...
and you've got a winner in my book! my fabulously talented, funny and oh so sweet bloggy pal rae of "made by rae" is the creator of this awesome pattern and i give it two thumbs up. the possibilities of this hat are endless too. the instructions were clear, concise and easy to follow. the pattern also covers sizes newborn all the way till a size Child Large which I'm guess is 6/7!! mackenzie wants one now too!
i don't recommend making it when extremely sleep deprived though..hahaha, i don't know how many times i mixed my fabrics up but this one shown today is my 2nd bonnet i've made (i made another one in the 0-3mths size as a baby gift - friggin adorable when so tiny!) and i think i'll be making a lot more in my future.

you can get your hands on a copy of the peekaboo bonnet here over on made by rae. tell rae i sent ya :)
thank you for all the kind bday wishes you have all been sending me today. you guys are the best!!! luv ya!!! you guys are soooooo sweet. i really do appreciate you thinking of me so thank you again :)
i'm going sewing machine shopping today so hopefully i'll be bringing home a new baby today! i'm leaning towards a pfaff at the moment but i'm nervous though, it's rather silly but it's a lot of moula and i always get really nervous when i have to spend a lot of money. i'll be sure to keep you all posted.
what have you been making lately that you loved? have you made a bonnet too? what's your fave baby hat pattern to make?
P.s. fabric was from on our my fab sponsors - Crafty Girls Workshop. Check them out!

SO cute!!!! Yay for bonnets!
ReplyDeleteI really need to get my butt in gear and make the kidlets some hats - yours are gorgeous!! My problem is the only fabric shop nearby is Fabricland and I'm not a fan of their selection... they really need to get with it! I've bought on line before but i really like to walk amongst the bolts and pair things up, I find it a little difficult online.
ReplyDeleteAll the best to you on your special day :) take care - can't wait to see what machine you choose :)
You did a great job! I wanna make one for my 3mos old baby girl. What an adorable model!! Looking forward to hearing which "baby" you choose....how exciting!
ReplyDeleteSo very cute. I love that lollipop print and have used it several times. Great in a summer beach blanket quilt =) http://www.stitchedincolor.com/2011/06/beach-riot.html I've been seeing that bonnet around and can no longer resist. I'll have to make one for my sister's baby!
ReplyDeleteyou know, you could put a dirty sack on that cute little harper and it would look wow...she is so sweet, just like her sister, just like their mama...great bonnet too!

Happy birthday, pretty lady!
ReplyDeleteI am not a huge bonnet fan but if I see like one or two more freakin adorable bonnets I think I may just be won over and stampede to make one. I'm close. The edge. Teeeeetering.
The bonnet is lovely - but I really wanted to jump in and say yay for getting a Pfaff! My MIL bought mine for me shortly after my daughter was born and I have used it almost every day since then. I love it so much that I get separation anxiety when I take it in to have it cleaned and serviced. You are going to love yours so much!
ReplyDeleteI have been a lurker for some time and absolutely adore your blog. Just had to say as the mother of 2 girls myself that your kids have THE most incredible eyes!!I mean how beautiful can kiddo's get!!
ReplyDeleteThankyou so much 4 being the source of much inspiration and for providing us all with a "one stop shop" for cute and inspirational ideas.Thankyou also for continuing despite recent "events". Your dedication and determination should be an example 2 us all.

ReplyDeleteLove it! Lincoln is watching the monitor and keeps saying 'Look at that. Oooh, look at that.' Then upon scrolling past the pictures he says 'Scroll back up to the top Momma.' I think you have a winner ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday and good luck shopping :)

So cute! I can't believe she isn't trying to take it off!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute my dear!! I'm thinking I need to make Eloise one of these for her first birthday party!!!! Harper is such a doll!!!
ReplyDeleteLovely lovely!! I'm currently making a dress with the same Liz Scott tree fabric. It's funny seeing it here in a different use. Well done!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the bday wishes everyone and for your sweet words about the bonnet. It's sooo cute and honestly, the pics work but it's even cuter in real life :)
ReplyDeleteBuffy - That's so adorable..haha.
Laura - I love this fabric too.
Ruth - Thanks!
Knitaddict - Oh my you made my day! What a nice comment. Thank you sooooooo much hun!
Sue - I agree. I could say some not so nice things about Fland but won't...lol. You know me, I'm sure you can only imagine what words I would use..lol.
Thea - Yep, it's a miracle. For some reason she doesn't mind wearing it but hates and I mean hates all her other summer hats.
Maggie - You should..Eloise would look so cute in it!
Attilio - Thanks hun! They are cutie pies.
Happy bonnet sewing everyone!
Happy birthday, Shannon! Your kids have the most gorgeous eyes - I totally agree with knitaddict! I have a Pfaff machine and a Pfaff serger, and our family has used Pfaffs for years, all the way back to when they were Pfaff treadle machines. They are great - workhorse motors, never break down, and you'll love the built-in walking foot. I'm glad you're getting one!
ReplyDeletewhat a super adorable bonnet for a super adorable little girl! :) almost makes me wish I had another baby, emily will be 3 in a couple months, and I don't know where the time went!
ReplyDeleteOh this is so so cute! I love the fabrics you chose and that darling little face! She would make anything look adorable :)
ReplyDeleteHello Shannon,
ReplyDeleteI am on my 5th bonnet. I made three for my red haired little niece, one for a sewing students newborn and am now making one for a great niece. I love this pattern. My daughters (now 17 and 19) always wore mommy made bonnets when they were little. I am blessed to be surrounded by baby girls and am constantly on the look out for fabric combinations. Rae's pattern is so well written that even a novice seamstress could make one of her bonnets.
I am a pfaff devotee. I sew on one and so do all my sewing students. I love the built in walking foot. I have been sewing on a pfaff since I was twelve years old.
Looking forward to seeing which model you purchase.

Happy birthday, Shannon! I hope shopping went well and that you have a new sewing machine and are too busy sewing to respond to this comment! It has been awhile since we chatted though! Hope you are having a great day!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you! Oh the bonnet and the model are adorable.
