moments in the mommyhood - the bug took me down

i got taken down by another nasty bug again.  it took the weekend wishes out of me and my post for today :(  this year has been the crappers for health for me but i'm hopeful the rest of it is gonna be awesome!  i missed hearing what you were all up to this weekend.  anything fun?  any crafting?

even though i've been sick i did get out to soak up the sun while i could.  heck, i don't care that my nose is pouring buckets, my lips are chapped & poofy (this happens to me when i get a bad cold), my head is pounding and i have a fever... that won't keep me from laying at the beach :P  you never know when the rain is going to come so you take the sun while you can get it.  i also managed to drag myself to knit night for some creative medicine.  i tell you, some yummy tea, my knitting, some kick ass jazz and good company can make a girl feel soooo much better.  i even got one of my legwarmers done!  woot woot!  i'm hopelessly addicted to the magic loop method now!  you must try it.

but i haven't just been knitting.  i've been sewing a lot too.  i can't wait to show you all what i've been working on.  so adorable!  i've finished a pressie for a friend's new baby and am working on two more things for my girls.  hopefully i'll get those done this week.  i'm running behind on my sewing though.  i tried to get a lot done this weekend but it proved not to be a good idea as i missed cutting out pattern pieces, sewed things to the wrong parts, sewed them the wrong way, and spent more time with my seam ripper than i have ever wanted to.  moral of the story....don't sew when you are sick :P

do you ever find that even though you are feeling down and under the weather that you will still try to pick up your sewing or knitting when you can't do anything else?  it's cathartic isn't it?  it takes my mind off my ailments and whatever is bothering me and helps to just let me escape a little from my own self induced pity party..haha.  so stay tuned this week, hopefully there will be pics of my little projects (sewn together properly this time), a fab book review and some other goodies for you all!

soooooo....how was your weekends ladies?  whatcha been crafting?  pull up a chair, i've got coffee on and i'm in the mood to chat :)

  1. I made two quilt tops this weekend, they were pretty fast to make after my children went to bed. We also had a Baltimore staple for summer gatherings...steamed crabs, delicious. I'm sorry you're sick, but thankfully, you were able to get some knitting done and sit in the sun!

Kelly - thanks for the tip. I've been drinking tons of water, I'm not sure what it is but it happens to me all the time..it looks hilarious.

  4. I feel like I'm permanently sick since child number 2 came along (7 months ago!). A baby and a toddler just seems to drain all my energy and I can't seem to get healthy.

I've hit the point where I really want to craft, but not sure I should do anything because I don't think I can concentrate properly and don't want to spend all my time unpicking or unravelling (and I definitely don't want to be operating scissors!). I spent yesterday during nap time just sitting in my craft room, watching TV on my laptop and dreaming with my craft supplies. Is that weird?

  5. Aw, I hope you kick this thing in the butt soon! I haven't really felt the urge to pick up my projects when I've been sick, but I did find that I made the most mistakes in my knitting after two beers ;) So I now have a two beer rule - after that, I put down the needles.

  6. poo to being sick, I hope you are feeling much better already and this will be the last bug of the year for you. I got a haircut, met the ex-missus and spent time with the hubs at our old flat cleaning it while he prepped the bathroom for painting on the weekend. Now I'm enjoying the rain, we've got rain!

  7. I agree. Crocheting when I pumped really got me through a whole year, I think. I don't know what I would have done with my time without it (plus I got all of my christmas presents done), and it made me really feel good to make something when I wasn't feeling my best.

  8. I've been feeling good for a few days now, and I'm not gonna lie, I'm kind of excited about it. I keep waiting to get taken down again. I'm trying to remember if I was sick a lot after Nicole was born, I just can't recall... I made myself a dress from the Rae's Angel Top tutorial (by accident, I was aiming for a top, hahaha) and Chris and I did a whooooole lot of cleaning/rearranging this weekend. Being sick so often gets you preeeetty far behind, I've noticed....
