(check out the video too!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm dying i want this book so badly!)
thank god it's the weekend. i'm so happy it's friday today ladies. phew! it's been super busy around here and i've been feeling under the weather. not to give you tmi but i have endometriosis (click here to read more about being a mom & dealing with a chronic illness & about my experiences with endometriosis) and it's just been a rough week for me. i really struggled with it this week and the sad thing is that i've been doing great since having harper and then this month wham! not so fun. on the upside susan sarandon revealed that she has endometriosis and it made my day. i know...that sounds wrong doesn't it? it's not that i want other women to be sick, i just think that it's not something to hide or be ashamed of and that the more celebrity voices we have out there to promote research and finding a cure the better in my opinion. ok...i'll admit it...there's more...susan sarandon rocks and is a tough cookie so the next time i'm having a bad endo day i'm going to channel thelma and louise and kick some endo ass..haha. ok. moving on.
we are in birthday party season around here and we have a party this weekend to go to that i've been happily working on a dress for the pretty little girl who's turning 4. she loves long, swirly, twirly dresses and i thought what better dress to make her than the party dress from the cottage home. love it! i also went out and picked up my first fabric button kit and yes, like i predicted, i am now addicted. how fun is that!!!!!!! i just need more buttons now. anyone have a good resource for buying them in bulk? i got mine at fabricland and they were not cheap. pics to come of the dress next week.
i also want to say a giant, huge, enormous thank you to all of you for reading this blog. i just looked at the calendar yesterday and went oops...there goes year #2 and i forgot to celebrate! anyways i wanted you all to know how much i appreciate each and every one of you, all the friendships i've made, the experiences we've all shared together (good & bad), the joy and happiness this blog brings me and the absolutely wonderful, caring and most entertaining community of crafty women i have ever met. i love you all and i hope we all can share many more years together in the mommyhood! here's to #2! thank you!
so besides sewing, resting, knitting, maybe sleeping, and birthday partying it up..oh..and eating ice cream i think my weekend is looking pretty darn good. how's yours gonna be? have anything exciting planned? any new projects on the go? share...you know i love hearing from you, it makes my day :)

The husband and I are going to get our oil and tires changed on our car at my in-laws place. Hopefully visit with some friends and maybe some baby window shopping. :D
ReplyDeleteCongrats on two years! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteaw, sorry to hear about the endo and that it's causing you grief :(
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to see your Party Dress!! I mean to make it ages ago and then totally forgot, so thanks for the reminder, I have to bump it back up to the top of the list!
I have no idea what we're doing this weekend, but my hubby told me to keep saturday open so we can do something as a family. Yay! It's been weeks and weeks since we were together on a saturday, or really able to spend some good quality time together as a family, period. Between working and helping out friends - both of which are great - time has been slipping by. Quality time, here we come!!
What an adorable video nice and simple...it looks like she got all the essential items for a baby, made them super cute and put them all in a book! Just throw it in the ever-growing pile of wanty items labeled "early birthday-anniversary-christmas presents", right?
ReplyDeleteYour weekend sounds like a crazy fun time...enjoy it in and feel better! Congrats on two years!
love that little snail! have a great weekend. the hubby will be working on the house, while i will be like you, trying to feel better. hang in there:) i'll be thinking of you:)
ReplyDeletehappy bloggy birthday - you should go out and celebrate!!
ReplyDeletethis weekend i hope to brave the 'changing of the naps' and cut out viley's morning nap... my little big boy has his second skating lesson and i hope to finish the cassia tunich i'm making.
hope you feel better soon :)

p.s. i'm featuring my little guys photos every friday come by for a looksee - http://polliwogsinbloom.blogspot.com/2011/04/view-from-here.html
I just had surgery for my endo (and some fibroids) sometimes being a gal can be a curse. Only sometimes though. (99.99% of the time it's wonderful to be a woman and a mom)
ReplyDeleteI just love that little snail! Too bad I can't knit to save my life.....but my mother can! For this weekend I have been asked by the hubby to whip up three BBQ aprons (all different lengths and widths, of course) for a motorcycle event next weekend. I found a great tutorial for a simple apron that can still be manly. Now to just find the right gray fabric...
ReplyDeleteCongrats on two years! I really enjoy reading your blog!!
that snail is too freaking cute! and i loved the video! sorry to hear you have endometriosis, that sounds like a sucky thing to have to go through.
ReplyDeletehappy bloggity birthday!
:) lovely!!!
ReplyDeletehappy bloggin birthday!
Hey. I'm an endo gal too, and I am back in the thick of it since my second child. Hang in there. Ice cream helps. xo
ReplyDeleteHappy Bloggy B-day! I love yoru blog!!! So sorry to hear you suffer with endo, me too. It can be hard to live with, but I love your attitude! I saw a specialist at the Center for Endometriosis Care 1 yr ago and they helped me dramatically. Maybe you could look into it (you can learn a lot just from reading their blog), or another specialist near you? If you only see a regular Obgyn, this may be all new info (my gyn knew nothing if this, wanted to treat it all wrong). You are welcome to email me. Hope you feel better/find a way to manage. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteAwww, thanks for all the well wishes ladies! You guys rock! And for those of you who shared that you suffer with endo as well thank you. It means a lot to have other people to chat with about it. I don't mention it as much as I probably should. If anyone's interested in learning a bit more about it and me here's a post where I chat a bit about my history and story with dealing with endometriosis.

May help some of you out there.
Wishing you all a wonderful, pain free, relaxing and ice cream filled weekend! Hugs to you all!
You're one cool mama. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletei just read the post you referred to .... woman - you are one strong mama!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 2 years, Shannon! That's so cool! So what is done for endo? Maybe email me with that answer... :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you get some relief and have the weekend you want. Ice cream should help, no?
I have nothing planned but to rearrange some furniture and sew some bandanas for Abby's Brownie troop. And church too.
Lots of love!
Jenny
so sorry to hear about your endo - hope the next months will be better.
ReplyDeleteI did your "about me" http://blessbytone.blogspot.com/2011/04/weekend-plans-and-little-about-me.html
Have a beautiful weekend. Tone
Girl I feel for you! I have terrible endometriosis too and they didn't diagnose me until I was 21! It was terrible! Even now some months are worse than others. I'm so sorry girl! My doctor finally put me on birth control pills straight through without taking the placebo and it worked! Some people don't like that though because it stops your period.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy your covered buttons, i'm totally addicted! I made some cute earrings too with them!
I use coverbuttons.com for my button covers. The website is kind of old school, but their prices are good. You can get about 50 3/4 inch button covers for about 15 dollars which is way cheaper than the stores. Just remember to buy the tool....they don't come with the sets. They are only a dollar or two...but make it much easier to make the buttons.
