the weekend that i thought may not be a good one turned out to be pretty alright. the scattering of one very, very, very large tantrum threatened to damper our day but we made it through unscathed and enjoyed the rest of our days off. i'm sure you can all relate to the dreaded tantrum who looms around every corner just waiting to eat happy little kids for a yummy snack....i don't like that mr. tantrum.

we hit up a local rummage sale with some friends and then had a nice walk in the sunshine with the hubs and yes, enjoyed a half price starbucks - i'm sad it's over but i milked it while it was around. we couldn't resist sticking little harper in the swing for her first swing ride. yep, i know she's 9 months and she's never been in the swing....what can i say, i avoid the park like the plague unless i have to be there. harper had a big weekend because she also took her first steps!!!! oh my baby isn't such a baby anymore. pretty soon she's gonna be running everywhere and my days of sewing while become even more few and far between..hahaha.

sunday we were lucky to get sun again...i'm hoping this means spring is around the corner. we enjoyed some more park time and swim lessons followed by a yummy roast in the slow cooker (thanks for all the tips/recipes from the facebook crowd). now, if only i had been able to sleep through the night...or even slept for 4 hours without being woken up by one kid or another....then...welll...no...i can't even think about it. forget the food, the thought of sleep is enough to cause a substantial amount of drool in my mouth and a recurring longing in our house. a longing for sleep that probably won't come to realization until my kids are 18 and even then i sometimes wonder if it will :)
how was your weekend? what did you get up to? do you avoid mr. tantrum like the plague too?
Yay for Harper! What a big girl! So glad you got to enjoy your weekend. You know how mine was... yuck, and still yuck. Just trying to get through the sickness without biting someone's head off. Thank goodness for my hubby!
ReplyDeleteUmmm, yeah, I'm pretty sure that even by 18 there will not be enough time for me to catch up on the type/quality of sleep that I have been denied over the years!!! So.Tired.Must.Sleep......
ReplyDeleteThat photo of the three of you is precious! I can't believe Harper took steps!! My Molly is almost 13 months and still hasn't - nearly, but not yet.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to say (to you) that I've been blessed with awesome sleepers. Molly has slept through the night since she was 3 months old, and Jesse since 8 months. So, unless we are derailed by sickness or teething, I get a good night. Don't hat me! ;) My best friend, however, is in your position - her 2 girls take turns waking her all night long.
Tantrums are definitely rearing their ugly heads more frequently now, especially since Molly is learning from big brother!
As to my weekend - I sewed my first apron!! I used laminated cotton so I can wear it while doing the dishes and not get drenched like usual. I got the Amy Butler Soul Blossoms print - Passion Lily in green and yellow. (I think that is the name) LOVE it!!
Hee hee! You can "hat" me if you want - I love hats :) Just don't "hate" me. :) :)
ReplyDeleteYou go Harper! Ellie is also getting there...last night was rough though because of the tummy ache she got after getting her hands on Noelle's unfinished (garlicky) pasta. She had not only scored the pasta but had hidden herself and the bowl in a corner of the room so that my husband passed by her twice without even noticing she was there. OMG?!
ReplyDeleteMost of my weekend time was also spent cooking for church and baking off 150 pumpkin cupcakes because my cooking partner somehow convinced *doormat* me that we should serve homemade goodies instead of laying out bulk brownies from the supermarket. Sigh.
But...lots of cute moments like Noelle "helping" by lining the cupcake pans and running various "important" errands for mama like putting dishes in the sink, and the girls bebopping to Daddy's guitar amidst my OCD fueled crabbiness made for a much better weekend also than I was expecting to have. In the end, it's always those moments that help you breathe and get back to yourself. Cupcakes and coffee certainly don't hurt either!
Whew! Didn't mean to go on like that...
Harper looks like baby Mack in the first photo:) although when she smiles they look different.... I love that they can look similar and yet different just like my boys:)
ReplyDeleteI knew Harper would walk early just like Mack did;) you make wary walkers haha or maybe impatient girls;) in a good way! Ready to chase after their dreams:)
Hope your Monday is nice!
Uh and sleep... Hah it's over rated!
Oh as for tantrums... You know I've had it very easy with Josh BUT someone else I know and I have been researching red dye in kids snacks/foods (yellow dye too).... And how it can drastically change behavior... Just a thought! It's in so many packaged snacks....???!!! Just a thought .....
I love the pictures!! All those beautiful blue eyes are just too much. Congrats on Harper's first steps, or maybe I should say Good Luck! :) We are finally on the mend here as well, hopefully we can all stay well for the rest of this winter.
ReplyDeletenice pics! seriously.., i read somwhere that you take your pics with a point and shoot... how is that possible?? they always look so nice, great light. do you have any tips you can share?
ReplyDeleteUm., 9 months?! That went fast.
ReplyDeleteyou and your hubby are adorable :)
We had a terrible 2 tantrum at his own birthday celebration. good times.
These are my favorite posts! I love seeing all your happy faces and beautiful blue eyes. I hope sometime soon to see you all in person.
ReplyDeleteThose are some adorable pictures of the kiddos! And yes, even though my Phoebe is only 1 1/2 she can throw tantrums with the best of them.
ReplyDeletethere's a stream of CUTE leaking from my computer screen...beautiful girls. beautiful family. seriously gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteJenny - Hope you feel better soon girl!
ReplyDeleteOjibirish10 - I know..I'm thinking it may take until I'm like 80ish?
Erin - Ok, baby whisperer..share your tips with us girl :) We wanna know your secrets. Is it in the water or your breastmilk??? hahaha. You are one lucky momma :)
Hannah - Oh no, hope she feels better. And wow - good on you for making all thos cupcakes! I would never have the patience plus cooking/baking is just not my forte.
Mauri - So glad to hear you guys are on the mend. Hope you are all healthy the rest of the year. Hugs.
Polliwogs - Thanks! Yep, it's true. I used to use only a point in shoot until May of last year. I gave birth and got two babies..Harper and a brand new Canon Rebel T1I. I love them almost equally..haha. Harper more of course, but the Canon is adored in our home. The pics for most of this post were taken with the point and shoot though..we still use her when we don't want to lug the big camera bag around. I've slowly been working on shooting everything in manual and loving it! I recommend the Rebel 100%.
Ms. Curdy - Aww thanks. Happy belated bday to your little guy. Those bday tantrums are never fun :( That's when we get ample footage via camera and recorder and play it later on to humiliate them at their wedding etc...hahaha. I can't wait. I have ammo on Mack already :P
Emily - I'm so scared Harper is gonna see Mack in all her tantrum glory and start early..eek. Mack's not that bad with them but when she has one..watch out. Luckily they are always at home though.
Stephanie - You are a sweetheart. Made my night.
Wow your little one is fast. Here 14 months and still waiting :( You have a beautiful family.
ReplyDeleteOkay, be honest, you're the one that had the tantrum, weren't you? ;)
ReplyDeleteI got an email from babycenter today. "Your three year old" Part of it was "So, you're out of the terrible twos, but nobody warned you about the tantrumy threes!" um, pretty sure you're the one that dropped the ball on that one, babycenter.
Mr Tantrum has suddenly moved (back) in this past week. On friday Nicole threw a bottle of barbeque sauce at my head at the table when I told her she couldn't eat until she apologized for hitting me with a fork for telling her she had to get her toys off the table for suppertime. A big dose of "wth?!" for all of the above, first of all. Secondly, we just dumped her in her room, you can't even reason with a kid when they're being like that. Sheesh. It's like she's one all over again alluvasudden! She spent her day sledding at her grandparents today and I can't say I was sad for the break, there's been a lot of tantrums over very little things in the last week. Yaaay. ;p
@Laura @ ON{thelaundry}LINEHA! I did have a tantrum after she had hers..I cried I will admit it..she stressed me out so bad but I didn't want it to ruin the day so I moved on. And yes, i gave up reading babycenter all the time as I found they just don't tell us the real nitty gritty do they?
ReplyDeleteYour comment seriously just caused me to almost pee myself. I'm lmao here, sorry..that's kinda mean, but it's damn funny. BBQ sauce and a fork? My oh my. I would have done the same thing. At least you have somewhere for her to spend the day for you to have a break...oh...I'd love that :)
I've definitely taken a deep breath and told my hubby I needed to go to safeway. "For what?" "I don't know. I'll find something. TO GET OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE. ALONE."
ReplyDeleteTo say that Nicole struggles with 'impulse control' is definitely putting it mildly. If she's conciously being a little turd we deal with it. If she's snapped and lost her marbles she gets shut in her room until she'd care to rejoin society. After she finally apologized, "for what?" "for hitting you with my fork..." I asked her why she did that. She looked puzzled for a minute and was like, "I don't know." Runs in her DADs side of the family. I'm not even kidding, ha. Once my hubby's brother, a teenager, got ticked off at his dad and threw a burger at the house. It stuck to the building up on the second story, and the sheer ridiculousness of it dissolved them all into hysterics and snapped him right out of his 'fit'.
When we first got married my husband literally smashed my computer once after a long frustrating afternoon of trying to fix it. Fortunately he has since matured and gained control of his impulses. :p
I just have to say this post made me smile. The way you captured your girls in these photos is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou are so good to keep the camera handy! I was thinking I need to be taking more opportunistic photos--meaning photos not for my blog! Ha! "Bloggie" is what they call me... Beautiful girls. I am always so amazed at your (all of you!) eyes! Can't believe Harper took her first steps! Where did the time go? Didn't you just tell me you were out on maternity leave?
ReplyDeletewhaou ! irrésistibles, ces yeux là ... et quel joli blog ;-)
