mackenzie and i had a mommy/daughter day this weekend. the hubs watched harper and we went out to see tangled in 3d! it was mack's first time ever going to the movies and she was sooo good. we had so much fun and we both loved the movie. i think it was the perfect first movie to go see, it was a happy go lucky, music & laugh filled romp. not too scary like of some of the animated movies that have come out lately. plus mack loves rapunzel.

we had popcorn, snuggled in our seats, donned our 3D glasses and had lots of giggles. it was great watching her try to reach out and touch some of the 3D special effects, even i got caught up in it all. we've really been focusing on mack having lots of daddy one on one time and had completely forgotten about how she might feel to just have time with momma. it was nice and much needed for the two of us to do something different and fun together.

if you read friday's weekend wishes post you know how i feel about snow, but man, how can you resist how much she loves it? too cute. it was sure fun to see the pics that the hubby took of her enjoying our recent snowfalls. i was more than happy to hear her tales of wonder and be the one to warm her up and ohhh and awe over the pics with and not be the one outside freezing cold :)

did you see the owie on her head? i forgot to mention last week that during my blogging break my poor little wee one ran straight into the corner edge of our wall - hard. it was so loud i thought for sure she had just run a toy car into it or something. i never thought it would have been her head. needless to say she cut it right open and these pics are of it all almost healed up. i tell ya it's not fun to see that much blood from your child, especially when you are braless and in your pj's. both the girls were in pj's still and i just panicked. i had managed to get the bleeding under control & call my husband, but i have to admit i was freaking out. i had no idea how i was going to carry a 3 1/2 year old who's screaming, a 6 month old baby who's screaming, get my bra on, go down 4 floors in the elevator, walk to our underground parkade and then drive to the ER. not gonna happen. luckily my husband's coworker came to the rescue and drove him straight home so we could drive the girls to the hospital. she was very brave, got all fixed up and is no worse for wear. i wish i could say the same for myself...haha. i'm a bit traumatized and keep wanting to cry whenever i look at her little head.

how was your weekend? do anything fun? do you plan special one on one trips with your kids? what do you do with them to make it special? happy monday! get your cuppa joe or tea and let's chat :)

AWW, what a sweet post! I know where she gets the beautiful eyes from now:)
ReplyDeleteLeonie, my daughter, and I love going to the movies! Tangled is the next one on our list...we might go sometime this week in the afternoon!
ReplyDeleteOh - I feel your pain looking at her head... I've been in those situations a lot (Leonie is 7,5) and I always would have loved to take the pain from her...
Have a great day!
Aw glad to know you had special time with Mack! Those times are important. Josh hung out with Dad too tons after Idyn was born we always had to make those Mommy times happen. I'm glad she loved the movie:) and I'm glad to see her forehead healing!:)
ReplyDeleteWe took all. five. kids. to see Tangled and they ALL sat through the whole thing! I agree. That might be one we actually purchase as it had even the adults laughing.
ReplyDeleteNo fun about the ER. Glad to see she's healing well :)
Aw man, poor Mack! I have my own little collection of childhood battle scars and none of them were fun to obtain. I did have to chuckle a little over your thought process. Every emergency is 60% more panic-worth if it occurs when you're not wearing a bra. Even if it's just the doorbell ringing. Or maybe especially if it's the doorbell ringing.
ReplyDeleteI love that you took Mack to see Tangled, maybe I should take Nicole, especially if it's nice and not-scary. I managed to leave the girls with my hubby to make it to church yesterday and Olivia was still asleep when I got back. Rumour has it I did miss a poopsplosion while I was gone but I can' say I'm super sad to have missed it...
Oh I really want to go see Tangled with my girl but I think she's too little for a whole movie...not quite sure how she'd do. But I love momma/daughter dates.
ReplyDeleteI had my first encounter with stitches this summer...you can read about it here if ever you get bored :) http://passionatedesign.blogspot.com/2010/08/8262010.html
Poor Mack and her pretty little head. It looks like it's on its way to healing really nicely. I understand how scary seeing blood on your child can be. We had a terrible scare with R last year that required an ambulance, stitches, and going under general anesthetic twice. I'll tell you about it sometime.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder about spending time with the older child. I'll have to remember that over the next several months. Good advice.
On a completely separate note, I'm knitting some gift dish cloths this afternoon and remembering why I hate knitting with cotton. Owie fingers!
thanks for the compliments ladies!
ReplyDeleteI definitely give Tangled 2 thumbs up! It was lots of fun and even I can't wait to see it again.
Katy - That is incredible! Now I know it's not just me, it was the perfect movie for kids to go see!
Lorchick - Hahaha, I love that work "pooplosion", I'm gonna use that one..haha. Glad you got a bit of a break from the wee one and the world didn't fall apart. I fear that everytime I leave Harper still.
Buffy - OUCH! That sounds even scarier and like my experience but on steroids...haha.
Amy - yes, you must tell. And yep, I agree, cotton dishtowels=ouch! See ya thursday!
We have been talking about taking Bridget to see Tangled! She's about the same age as Mackenzie and hasn't been to a movie in a theater yet. She doesn't sit still during movies at home, so we're crossing our fingers that she'll stay in her seat!
ReplyDeleteI took my five year old girls to see Tangled this weekend too. During the movie, my little wackadoos were scared out of their minds. Like actually crying! Can you believe it. I didn't think it was that scary. All of the other little girls in the theater seemed fine. I guess my girls are just sensative. After the fact, they keep asking me questions and seemed to like it better now that they know all ended well. I even made them some Rapunzel skirts out of Heather Ross' Far Far Away II. I blogged about it here http://twincess.blogspot.com/2010/11/simple-line-skirt-and-fancy-french.html
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you and Mack had fun and I hope her little head heals quickly.
Hey,
ReplyDeleteGreat post :) me and my girls looove going to cinema, looking forward to Tangled being released in UK, we will def be watching :)

ReplyDeleteWell, it wasn't so scary as it was annoying. I just couldn't find a matching pair of shoes. I'd have gone mismatched had I found opposite shoes but I could only find left shoes. Should have known then things weren't right if all the right shoes were missing ;)
All joking aside, emergencies of any kind are hard...sorry you had to go through it.

I love that your daughter's name is Mackenzie. Not sure I realized that before?! My 2nd son's name is Mackenzie. I once ordered a sippy cup for Sean & Mackenzie and Mack's came pink. LOL. I actually know more boy Mackenzie's than I know girl ones right now. Very unisex name. (My name is unisex too if spelled with an I. My hubby's name is unisex too (Jamie).
ReplyDeleteps- I gave birth a week ago! Come stop by my blog to hear about the week I've had. We're home now, but it was quite the ride.
