to finally find a bike for mack after looking since april.....
to remember to do this more often.......
that some other people are loving this show as much as i am...i need a "plain mommy" makeover...
that you are all enjoying teacup month as much as i have organizing it.
what a week. aiayaya. i'm glad it's over, but also sad to see august is almost at an end. where the heck did summer go? we had a better day yesterday and a lot of that had to do with your sweet comments on wednesday's post. you guys are the best. thank you so much for all of your kind words. hugs to all of you who were also having a crappy, bad mommy day :)
this weekend i plan to go shopping for some fabrics and a few notions to get caught up on my sewing to do list and maybe a little surprise for the site! tomorrow (sat) i'm excited to announce that i will also be returning as a guest on the "real parenting" radio show on C-FAX 1070 with host amy bronee at 10:30am so tune in! if you aren't in victoria you can also stream the show from the C-FAX website.
the hubs finally finished school until october now. man, oh man, am i tired and so is he. it's nice to know he doesn't need to do homework at night or study on the weekend...it's just family time. mackenzie has been having some issues with the phone this week and i've decided it's time to nip it in the bud. do any of you have any tips to try out for when your 3 year old transforms into the devil as soon as your phone rings? i'm serious, it's scary...she is not my child when i am on the phone...hahaha, and then i swear as soon as i hang up she wants nothing to do with me. what the heck is that all about???
what are your weekend wishes? any fun plans? i plan to do a bit more thrifting this weekend if i get the time. if any of you are readers that live here in victoria, bc where is your fave place to go on the hunt? i'm getting tired of the overpriced goodies at value village. don't get me wrong, it's fun going there, but i have to admit the prices just get higher and higher every time i go. i still feel new to victoria and don't know of many other good secondhand shops (the salvation army's i've been in have been horrible). i'd love it if you could share your favorite haunts....
p.s. i hope you all have a wonderful weekend and thanks for all your comments last week about the cable dilemma. we are still undecided....but i'm leaning in the direction of cancelling. your thoughts all helped a lot.

Those leg warmers are to die for! I love them. The phone issue, I have no idea why they do that. Yesterday my best friend called and as I was sitting on the couch trying to talk to her all three of mine were literally smothering me (they called it snuggling... fine line).
ReplyDeleteSo glad things were a bit better! Hang in there! Seriously, there are good days and bad days from here until eternity, but we just have to make the best of both. Do as I say, not as I do, right?
You know where I'll be this weekend... ANNA MARIA HORNER!!! I'll let you know how it is!
If you figure out what to do about the phone please let me know. I love the dishes and the leg warmers are gorgeous. That table is awesome too.
ReplyDeleteThat last picture is gorgeous, I LOVE the 1st one, and Plain Jane totally ROCKS!! I need to remember to just be still more also.
ReplyDeleteAs far as thrift stores go it depends on what your looking for. My favorite place for clothing for myself is Baja Rosi Consignment in Langford. For random finds I have done really well with the 2nd hand store in the little mall beside Thrifty's in James Bay, last time I was there I got a killer deal on some amazing fabric that will be a wrap dress soon!! I can't wait to make that. If I think of anywhere else I will let you know.
ReplyDeleteA friend suggested that you find a special toy that only gets played with when you are on the phone. Although our kids were about 18 months at the time. Not sure if that would still work at 3. Or does that sound a little too much like bribery? (Which sometimes works for me....)
ReplyDeleteSo the phone...once it rings and I realize it is going to be a long call (I don't get those very often) I'll set my kids up at the table coloring (one thing parenting has taught me well is multi-tasking). Usually I pull out a few healthy goodies (read-in M & M's and crackers).
ReplyDeleteWhen they do interrupt I try my darndest to stay calm and say 'Momma's on the phone right now, you can wait' If they are particularly pesky I normally end up telling my friend that I will have to call them back, at nap time. Good luck though.
I do have one thought about bribery (since I kind of alluded to it). How is bribing your children different than working? I mean is that when we work (either for money or the hugs and kisses of our children) we often have to do things we don't want to yet the 'payment' always makes it worth it in the end. We don't always get paid for the things that we do, but I'm all for a little positive reinforcement and if that appears in the way of a movie, toy or M & M's I'm for it. Just my two cents.
Oh, those leg warmers...wish they were on my needles right now...almost finished too!
Have a great weekend.
Just saw your post about the cable thing. We cancelled our cable at the beginning of summer just because I feel like it gets turned on and stays on most of the day as background "annoyance". We didn't have it last year at our old place for about 5 months and it was great. Last weekend I turned on the T.V. to see if we still possibly had channel 2 for news and we still have all the channels through our Shaw box! I'm not complaining. Free T.V. Anyway, My hubby works evenings so we never watch T.V. at night and the 2 shows I like I never get a chance anyway so I end up watching them online after kiddies are asleep. Plus I don't know if you use the library but it is awesome for kids movies. They have a great selection and you get to keep them for about 2 weeks and they have a huge selection of adult movies too. (I'm talking about GVPL) You can also go online and see what is available and request it or get it sent to the library nearest you. I definately think cancelling it is a good idea.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great weekend!
