that my daughters will develop a love for photography as much as the hubs & i do.......
that i could get away with wearing knee highs with pretty red shoes.......
that i can get started soon on my goal to give only handmade gifts for xmas this year......
to play some cards with the hubs (and of course win).......
to get some good ol' cat naps in...........
to finally find a lavender plant in this city of mine (everyone is always sold out).....
and to get back to san francisco again one day.
image sourcethis week was an interesting one to say the least. good ol'gisele sure stirred up some chatter here in the mommyhood, i'm getting used to my new laptop (first one i've ever had), i swear my 11 week old is teething (yikes), i'm finally figuring out how to use twitter and yes, i will admit that i even looked up an online twitter dictionary to figure out what the heck people were talking about, and we've received some lovely surprises in the mail.
we love mail in our house. don't you? and before you start thinking i mean email i actually mean snail mail. my daughter and i live for the mail. we love going down to the box in our condo to check to see if the mail has come. the best days are when the buzzer phones up and it's the mail person delivering a parcel. now don't get me wrong, i don't' shop a lot, and this doesn't happen all the time, but lately we have gotten a lot of lovely gifts in the mail and boy oh boy, has it been fun. i promise to tell you a bit more about some of them in the next few weeks.
this weekend i plan on getting caught up on chores..boring, i know, but definitely needed. after our long weekend last week i let a few things slide. i have a weird obsession with keeping on top of the laundry since the baby was born and now i know why it developed. it's a friggin nightmare when i get behind a day. i just can't seem to be able to get caught back up. but besides the usual household fare i'm hoping to get some home made salsa whipped up to go with some yummy hummus and to also bake some lemon blueberry muffins. yum. we've been on the hunt around town for some popsicle holders (the forms you use to make popsicles) because all of a sudden i cannot find them in my tiny apartment. weird. poor mackenzie has been whining for frozen yogurt popsicles for over a week now. any tips anyone?
on a side note i won a prize this week! i am sooo excited. i never win anything. i won a copy of the new book "stitch by stitch" by the talented deborah moebes of whipstitch. yippee! cannot wait to get my sew happy hands on a copy! have any of you signed up for the "sewing buddy project" going on over at whipstitch? deborah has so lovingly arranged a way to match all of us ladies who sign up with a virtual sewing buddy! she's got lots of fun things planned for the project. so far we've been matched up, gotten to know our buddies by doing a special pdf filled with fun questions and our first sewing quiz for prizes! so exciting, i love this kind of stuff. so my partner (dusty you're the best) and i kicked butt and won! woot woot! i totally thought i got all my answers wrong, oh, except for the one about project runway, that i knew, so it was exciting to have gotten them right. thanks for putting this all together deborah - you rock! you can read more about the sewing buddy project here and you can sign up for a buddy of your own here.
what are your plans for the weekend? any of you going to be schlepping through chores like me? any special baking going on in your household? fill me in :)

can I have the lemon blueberry muffin recipe? I have some blueberries dying to be used.
ReplyDeletedo you have ice cube trays? Popsicle sticks? cut your sticks in half and then stick them in a piece of fruit in the ice cube tray... then fill with smoothie mix...freeze and VIOLA mini Popsicles:)
oh weekend I hope you to be full of rest, relaxation, sleep, and cleaning..yep I love keeping it clean. HAH like my weekend will ACTUALLY be that way! A girl can dream.
HUGS and wishes for a beautiful day!
you can use little paper water cups for popsicles, too. just fill them, put a piece of foil over the top, and stick in the popsicle stick. when they are frozen, you can tear the paper cup away. :)
ReplyDeleteIf you buy the little individual servings of children's yogurt and stick some big popsicle sticks right through the lid and then pop the whole thing in the freezer for a couple of hours you will have yourself a yogurt pop! I have even saved some and just bought the regular larger tubs of yogurt and mixed in some fruit and then used tin foil on the top to hold the sticks.
ReplyDeleteAfter losing three sets of popsicle maker sticks this summer, I decided to figure out a different way. :)
I hope you get at least half of what you want to get done done! You're ambitious! I have to go over to Whipstitch and sign up for this! I love Deborah... you lucky girl winning her new book! Are you sure it's not too late to sign up?
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, my bloggy friend!
Hey Shannon,
ReplyDeleteIf you are looking for popsicle holders you should go downtown to Capital Iron. If you haven't checked out their kitchen section yet, you will love it!! So many neat things!
This weekend my mama and I are headed to Vancouver to visit with Terry and Roger, and of course do some shopping!!
that is the coolest braid i've ever seen in my entire life. excuse me, but i need to go attempt to put my 3yo down for nap early so i can go stand in front of the mirror and have a go!
ReplyDeletelove your blog, so real, so loving, so genuine :)

I was supposed to do family pictures for a close close friend tomorrow but that got postponed due to poison ivy. All the photo editing in the world can't get rid of a look of discomfort! lol. So other than that I'm attending a stag&doe with the hubster tonight while our little girlie spends the night at grandmas. It should be fun but I'm trying not to dread it a bit since I'm in my third trimester and it's out of town and thusly I don't really know most of the people who will be there. Can't even have a glass or two of liquid courage to turn into 'instant bff', hopefully there will be other preggers there b/c if I'm the only one sober it'll be kindof boring/annoying and I can't even leave my hubby to catch a ride... again, out of town. D:
ReplyDeleteKrystal - I'll give ya the recipe, call you later.
ReplyDeleteAmanda - Thanks, that's a great dea!
Jenny - I hope I get some of it done too...haha. And nope, it's not too late to sign up.
Teresa - I'll check there, I haven't been in a while, and yes, it's fun shopping there. I'm jealous you get to go to Van. Can I stow away in your bags on the ferry? :)
Liz - I would totally be doing that to my own hair right now if it was long enough. the hairdresser in me swooned when i saw it.
Lorchick - (Is that your name? I can never find it) Poison ivy? Yuck and ouch! I hope there will be other preggers or non drinkers there for you as well. I feel for ya, I had a couple social gatherings and parties to attend preggers as well and it's just never as fun, especially when you don't know the people that well. Best you can do is a late night coffee and a big smile!
Yeah, we rock! (and I just saw that she got the books today - I bet we get them next week!)
ReplyDeleteHmm....my weekend wishes - to find something really awesome tomorrow garage sale-ing (like, I don't know, maybe a serger) and for DD to sleep all night.
Well, I should really pack my hospital bag this weekend and get a spare room ready in the basement for my Mum to sleep in when she comes to visit/help with the baby next week. Other than that I will probably try to rest as much as one can with a two-year old around. If I get REALLY ambitious I will continue to organize my office/sewing space and sew up some more bum wipes.
ReplyDeleteYour muffins sound heavenly!
Your wish for your kiddos to love photography as much as you is awesome. My husband is a photographer/journalist and he started our son out young and now he's hooked! He casually tells people that he has 3 film cameras and one digital (as if every 4 yr. old has one)!

it's an article my husband wrote recently on his blog about our son's photography, including the little man's first film pictures :)
I love that gingerbread house on the mug. Coolest Christmas treat ever! I actually just wanted to swing by and say hi. Shirley from the VI Baby Fair told me about you and I am thrilled to find another local Vancouver Island blogger. You are only the second I have found and the certainly the biggest. So hi! So glad to "meet" you!
ReplyDeleteOh, I don't know if it's very easy to find me from my google account. I'm Melodie of http://www.breastfeedingmomsunite.com
