i thought a bit more of a light hearted post was in order today after the chaos that ensued after my post yesterday :) so what better way to lighten the mood than some cute shots of both my girls. especially one where the oldest feels pretty & beautiful, free to dance and sing, and wear a pretty new frock.

mack was super excited to get a parcel in the mail containing her new hankie dress from the etsy shop "chopstix". jenny of the "southern institute of domestic arts & crafts" so sweetly whipped up one for my darling girl, and even asked for her color choices and hankie pick. needless to say my daughter loves it and she feels like a princess in it. to me that's all that matters. that special twinkle in her eye and that giant smile on her face - it's priceless. so thank you jenny, for brightening up our day, and for giving us a special handmade lovely for my daughter to treasure that she knows was made just for her. it truly is a gift :)

i've got a few more thank you's to throw out there but will be spreading them out over the next week or so. you ladies out there in this wonderful and friendly blogging community spoiled us rotten when harper was born and i just can't resist showing off our goodies and of course, your talents.

yesterday was a pretty long day (thanks gisele) and a long night (harper's teething already - bah), so i'm sorry for a shorter post, i'll make up for it in my "weekend wishes" tomorrow.
what's your favorite handmade gift you received? fave one to gift to someone? how's your day? i'd love to hear about.

Very Adorable! What sort of camera do you use? by the way I have a giveaway going on that I think you'd be interested in: http://tfcurve.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteCheck it out.
I love giving super plush hooded towels that I make. I have an insane stash of towels in my sewing room.
ReplyDeleteI love receiving just about anything made with love, it seems so much more personal.
Okay day thus far, just perpetual tiredness that goes along with a 3 year old and 10 month old that think sleeping is some kind of torture.
Great pictures Shannon - she looks absolutely beautiful!! Teething already? Booooooooo.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, favorite handmade gift - I'd have to say a patchwork quilt I received from my sister-in-law for Savannah - she learned to sew just so she could make her something special. How sweet is that?
Have a really great day,
Linds
Gorgeous dress there is nothing like a dress that twirls to make a girl feel extra special :) OHHHH my day has been kinda blah/crazy but we made it through unscathed :)
ReplyDeleteMy MIL just dropped off the tradtional nan-made crochet blanket for our new girl so right now that is my fave hand made gift.
Im still hat-mad over here so I would have to say my fave handmade thing to give is knitted/crocheted hats too cute and for the mamas..... its all about the boobies.... breast pads, breastfeeding aprons and spew cloths :)
She looks adorable, Shannon! I'm so glad and thanks for posting the pics! My favorite handmade gift is a little bowl that Abby made me in Kindergarten... I use it every night to keep my wedding rings and favorite necklace in. I love making dresses for the little girls in my life. My days have been a bit frazzling. It's too hot here to be outside and I'm feeling quite stir crazy! But tonight I have a girls' night out with a friend... can't wait!
ReplyDeleteHarper is teething already??? Good grief, poor thing!
Josh's car cozy was the best hand made gift I've ever been given. Somehow the baby blue crocheted items just didn't work for my boys. Cars related things always work:)
ReplyDeleteMy day...well it has begun early yet again. 5am. It can only get better:)
Chat later.
Hope your day is beautiful!
As beautiful as Mack's dress!!! WOW I LOVE IT!
so sweet and what a cute little dress. my fav gift was given before i had the baby. with the birth of my first son i ended up with a c-section and a 10 day stay in the hospital. i was told i was lucky to be alive. needless to say, i was terrified for the birth of our second child. my sil gave me a picture of my son and a little saying that said "think of me if you get scared, and all the love that we 3 share. our family of 3 will soon be four and all your fears will be no more. i still remember the saying and it still makes me cry when i think of it. ok, enough crying! my fav to give was a play tent i made for my nieces.
ReplyDeletehow about roberto?? i knew she was going to choose him!
I loved your post yesterday. I think bloggers are entitled to their opinions and sharing them. I mean - I am sure you put in tons and tons of time to entertain us - for free! The least we can do is respect that you are an actual person with your own ideas!
ReplyDeleteHope you'll share again in the future. All the best, and thanks for all you do to keep us entertained during slow days at work ;)
BEAUTIFUL girls. Love the hankie dress. So sweet.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments everyone! I loved hearing all about your handmade goodies.
ReplyDeleteI recently, after years of longing, we got a Canon E0S Rebel T1I, or as it's known in our house - our other baby.
And yep, I swear Harper's teething. Drool, irratability, not sleeping as well, diaper rash, biting/chomping on everything, etc....all the signs are there. Time to break out the Hyland's teething tablets, all the other tricks aren't cutting it anymore.
Stitchify - that's so sweet! that you so much, i'm glad i entertain someone besides myself :P
