we've made it out of the house! yep, that's right! i finally ventured out into the big, bad world all on my own with the two girls. yay for me! albeit it wasn't far...ok, it was literally a 5 minute drive, but i was early and relatively no chaos happened during the preparation for it if you don't count spilling coffee all over an outfit that took me half an hour to find, that somewhat covered my "overhang". darn it. but i recovered, changed and we had a great play date with two great friends and their kids. i got spoiled and they had a little bday celebration for me. so all in all, it felt great to get out of my house :)

harper has been doing great! she's such a good baby. i can't resist bragging a bit because my first baby was a bad sleeper, but harper slept from 9:45 till 5:45 on thursday night!!!! *&*&!! holy cow! we've had a few long sleeps at night now, but that was the record breaker. now to get her to do that every night! she is 6 1/2 weeks now and i'm guessing weighs about 12 pounds give or take.

people have been telling me not to be shy and to not avoid putting my pic up with the baby, so here ya go. a nasty ol'photo of sickie ol'me. i am not vampire white anymore, but my hair is still a mess and i am sans makeup, so please avert your eyes if it is too much a of a shock! i need my hairdresser to come rescue me!

all in all we are surviving. routines are being made, some sleep is getting slept, my laundry doing has been exceptional (one load a day!!!), dishes are clean, i sometimes get a shower, toys sometimes get put away, baths are given, diapers changed, princess dress up done, and a whole lot of fun is being had...ok, when there isn't crying and tantrums, but on the most part we are having fun with this new adventure into functioning as a family of four.

I've always wanted a Stella & Dot piece, but I guess my daughter could have one first! kelgeeinaz(at)aol.com
congratulations kristin!!!! julie will be in touch with you in regards to your prize!!!

I am expecting my second in December and I am secretly freaking out. Not sure how I am going to handle my crazy two year old and a new baby. i am already tired of working and I woudl like to stay home and rest but must keep working because I cant afford not to.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea where June has gone and I am scared that July and August will be the same and then I will be that much closer to having this other baby.
I feel your pain on the overhang. I had a c section with my first and suffered the overhang and now that I am pregnant with my second I feel like the overhang is definetly back and I am not looking forward to the battle worn body you receive after labour. It is not a fun place to be remember you will move away from it and begin to feel normal in time. Know you are not alone
YAY for getting out of the house. Its not too bad is it? I remember freaking when I took my first solo trip with both kids to the ZOO. They were really good and all was well!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your pictures!
Good for you getting out of the house! I remember when I had just two kids and thought I'd never be able to go anywhere! I just had baby #4 two weeks ago...and who know's when I'll go anywhere w/ the four kids. I also hear ya about needing your hair dresser to rescue you!! I could use that too!!!
ReplyDeleteYour post made me smile...and brought back memories :)
ReplyDeleteSweet photos~sweet moments xox
Congrats on making it out of the house. I'm expecting my first in November, but I'm not freaking out quite yet - I'm probably just oblivious to the challenges coming. We just found out that she's a girl, so I'm more in the Wow stage. :)
ReplyDeleteKate - Awww, that's hard. When I was preggers with babe #1 I had to work too and it was sooo hard, I can't imagine doing it with one at home too. Stay strong and come vent here anytime :) And BOO to the overhang! I hate the overhang. I'm crossing my fingers for you that yours won't come back. Wishing you well with the rest of your pregnancy.
ReplyDeleteAdventure Knitter - 4 kids!!!! Aiyaya! I'm having a hard enough time with 2, I cannot even remotely imagine life with 4. You must be one super momma!
hm what floats my boat? hm.. mmmm rootbeer floats.. haha.. LOVE the pics.. LOVE that you got out of the house.. to see me too :) Miss you! HUGS.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you are out and about! Sometimes it is so hard to get out of the sweats and go out into the real world. I am still waiting for this little one. Yesterday was my due date and I thought she was coming, but then all the contractions stopped. :( I'm going to put up some pictures of the stuff I have been working on so have a look at my blog later today. Good luck! I think big chubby babies are the best sleepers. All four of mine slept through the night by the time they were 6-8 weeks old probably because they were such big chunks! Still working on a name for this girl, any suggestions?
ReplyDeletejust found out i'm expecting #2. i haven't even told my husband yet...maybe because i'm FREAKING. i have a very busy 15 month old and i'm just not sure how i'm going to handle it with a newborn and 22 month old...i'm already pulling my hair out just thinking about it. gladly accepting any advice...
ReplyDeletelove the pics of your girls, they are precious.
Congrats on getting out of the house! I remember all of my first trips out of the house by myself with each new baby (I have five). It really is a chore but I know it really boosts the self-confidence. I promise the next time won't be so hard and that before you know it this will all be a distant memory. Congrats also on the laundry feat! I still struggle with that :/
ReplyDeleteyour family is beautiful! yay for venturing out - our babe is 6 months, so I know what an ordeal it is, but with summer and sunshine are finally here coaxing us out to play, and it's getting easier!
ReplyDeleteI just had my first in February. Well didn't JUST have because is will be 5 months old in 4 days! lol But it is still a big adjustment especially as a single mommy. My biggest adjustment is I am running out of stock for the local stores that carry my items I make and I am having to start getting back into the swing of juggling baby, school, and business. Scary!
ReplyDeleteHaha this post really sounds like something I will be posting in a couple months! I have ten weeks left until my second little one is here. Some days I don't know how I make it through with one, and soon there will be two?!?!??
ReplyDeleteJill-Wow! Congratulations! Better get on telling the hubs :) Don't be scared, it's lots of hard work, but worth all of it. Trust me on that. I have a few good friends with kids around that same age diff and they LOVE it. Mine's 3 right now, so not sure how good any of my advice is, but I can say it does get easier and things start to regulate into somewhat of a routine, just a different one than you began with. You'll start to learn how to balance it slowly and then you'll be back here writing advice for other mom's in the same situation :) I'm still figuring mine out...haha.
ReplyDeletePassionate Design - 5 kids!!! wow...I'm starting to feel like a whiner for probs with 2 and you have 5? I don't think I would even be able to brush my teeth with 5 running around nevermind get out of the house...lol!
Motherhood Unedited - Congratulation on your ltitle one! Time goes by fast right? Big yeehaws for you doing it all alone girl, that is HARD work! I feel for you and send big hugs your way. I hope things get easier for you and that the balance we all struggle for as moms in our lives comes your way :)
Your family is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWe're getting ready to welcome our first baby in the fall, and I love reading about your (and other artsy moms) experiences! Glad I found your blog.
Four more months until baby #2 (Princess Jellybean) arrives, and if they go as fast as June, I'm in trouble. I'm also a little panicked about, especially thinking 2 under 2, but I have a friend who had TRIPLETS when they already had a 3yo living away from all their families, so if she can survive, I can too (I hope!).
ReplyDeleteJune? When was that? I can't believe it's almost July too.
ReplyDeleteI can tell you that it was an adjustment going from no kids to one, and then a little bit of an adjustment going from 1 kid to 2. I am a little scared about going from 2 kids to 3 this December. Some mornings I have no idea how on earth we get out of the house. (Takes hours sometimes to get out of the house). I hear ya!
Hope all is well on the other side of the country. Your kids are beautiful by the way.
I am expecting baby #2 in October and can't wait for him to arrive. I know it will be hard to have a newborn and a 2 year old but I am really looking forward to being able to look at him and hold him (and not be pregnant anymore). Thanks for all your honest posts about how it is with two, I'm really enjoying them!
ReplyDeleteHooray for a good sleeper! Your girls are just so gorgeous! Congrats on your first outing alone with them too. Ps.....I'm almost done with your baby gift ;)
ReplyDeletecongrats on getting out, I understand the overhang, I haven't gotten rid of mine yet, and it stinks when you have to go up a pants size just to cover it and then your pants are all baggy in the butt. they should make pants for mommies after babies, not those ugly mom jeans! Congrats again you're daughters are adorable. I have a friend who is expecting in September and I'm so excited to welcome one of my friends to the adventures of parenting. thanks again for you r blog I love reading!
ReplyDeleteCandice - Thank you! Congrats on the soon to be baby! So exciting! You'll have to check out our maternity sewing tutorial roundup! http://www.luvinthemommyhood.com/2010/03/maternity-sewing-tutorial-roundup.html
ReplyDeleteCook, clean, craft - Holy cow...triplets and a 3 year old, is your friend still sane?? J/k. That would be hard. Geesh. I think you'll do fine. I just try to remind myself everyday that I'm in charge and not the 3 year old :)
Knit & Purl Mama - I hear ya. I can definitely say I can see how it's going to take me hours to get out of the house on a regular basis. I started getting ready for our outing this week 2 hours before we left.
Jessica - Awwwww, you're such a sweetie! Can't wait to see it, thanks for that hun!
Hambergoosa - Darn overhang...dreaded, stupid overhang. I wish I could get the guts to put a pic up of the overhang and throw them at it to get my frusteration out about it...ok, a bit nuts, I admit, but still...I just get so pissed off about it. Like, really, why do we have to suffer even more - right? And the pant butt sag I can really relate to. I need to figure out how to alter my clothes and fix that. Anyone got any tips? Thanks for your comment :)
Oh, I'm so glad you're getting out of the house a little bit! And it sounds like little Harper is being kind to you...good girl!
ReplyDeleteYAY its good to hear that you are cruising the mummyhood with your little chicks very brave first steps :) I am gushing at all the gorgeous pix in this post.... you sure make some beautiful big eyed babes!!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Go ahead a whine away...we've all been there. Plus I newly have 5, my youngest is just 3 months...so I'm right with you. Crazy children running around while I'm exhausted from sleep deprivation. Love the pics.
ReplyDeleteHow fantastic that you're getting out and adjusting very well with a handful of cuties. You look lovely btw!
ReplyDeleteI just want a nap so bad right now - just being out in the sun at the park has zapped my energy.
Cheerio and happy summer.
Sleep deprivation sucks...but that's what coffee is for...right? I was trying to stay off the coffee, but nope, I cracked. I lasted about 4 weeks and now I need my cup a day to just function without falling apart :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the milestone of leaving the house! I remember doing that after my second--it's a serious accomplishment. I am expecting my third girl in 7-8 weeks and wondering how that adjustment will go??!! June went too fast for me too and now I'm a bit crazy trying to act on my sudden inspiration for the 4th of July.
ReplyDeleteThey're such gorgeous pictures.
ReplyDeleteI remember well the scary feeling of leaving the house for the first time (although luckily I didn't spill coffee down my outfit...that would have undoubtedly reduced me to tears) with both children. Despite how exhausting it is, it's so nice to feel that it is actually possible and to know that you can actually do it.
