  2. Good Links. Thank you so much!! I'm 30 wks and feeling too cheap to buy anything now- since I've got less than 10 wks left, but man I've outgrown so much in my closet. I think being able to alter a few things with these tips will be great!

  3. Wow, I'm honored to be among your links!!! Thanks for the shout out. I'm just finishing up another J Crew inspired T-shirt. This one is dark purple and I am loving the randomness of the ruffle placement. I think every pregnant woman should have some pieces that make them feel special. How are you feeling?

  6. There are some great links here, but it's a little late for me to make any maternity clothes, I'm at 37 weeks.
I did find this quick and easy tutorial for making nursing tops using t shirts: http://www.sleepingbaby.net/jan/Baby/shirt.html it looks easy enough and t shirts are inexpensive and comfy and you can always alter the sleeves, add designs, ruffles, etc. to cute them up a bit!

  7. i love this! im also at 30 weeks, and carrying differently this time around so several of my old favorites from the first pregnancy dont fit! im going to look at everything and im sure something will jump out as a new favorite. :)

  8. You're welcome ladies! I hope you enjoy it and I am going to keep it updated. I know I had a hard time finding great stuff so thought I would share what has taken me my pregnancy to find :) Enjoy!

  9. I love this! Thanks for all of the linkys!

I'm due in 8 weeks, so there is almost no chance I'm going to be sewing maternity clothes at this point (when my mat leave starts, it's yoga pants all the way, baby!). But I'm marking this for the next preggo! =)

  10. I wish I found this post 4 months ago! I only have 2 weeks left. I turned two pairs of pants into mat pants and another pair into a really funky denim skirt ... but the best was my jersey full-length brown dress that I wore to My husbands work party in January and it still fit great for my work's Annual General Meeting at the end of March!

    -Amanda

a word about belly bands ... go to the second hand shop, find some stretchy t-shirts that you like the colour of, cut it off at the armpits and hem the top closed (you might have to hem a little at each side depending on how close to the armpits you have cut) ... voila! belly band in any colours you like!

  12. Oh me oh my! Thank you so much for putting it all together in one place. I had seen some of the patterns before falling pregnant and then couldn't find them! And my wardrobe is thinning with my expanding belly. So thank you! Genius. Absolute GENIUS!!!

  13. I wish I had done this sooner too! haha, maybe I could have had a bigger maternity wardrobe? oh well, too late now. i can hardly fit at the table with my sewing machine never mind find the energy to sew a new wardrobe at the moment. those darn swollen feet of mine are a bit tricky to maneuver on the foot pedal..hahaha.

  18. What a great post. I am a seamstress, actually a quilter who can't wait for maternity leave, because I will be finally allowed to focus on growing my business! Yay self-employment! =)

I had never thought of repurposing clothing into maternity clothes! I got lucky, though, and borrowed lots of clothes from friends who just had babies, but what a great idea, and very easy to do!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I really appreciate the time you're taking to put up this tutorial. I have a question though, when you sew on fabric, you need to lock in your stitches at the beginning and end of your row by reversing. I don't see this on the cards I've seen with sewing on them. How do you keep it from unraveling if you don't lock them in like this?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Glad you are all enjoying it! Make sure to let me know if any of you have any links for maternity sewing tutorials to add on, I would like to keep it updated :)

  50. I have to admit that the bikini panties were best for me. While I'd been known to go commando before pregnancy, I preferred wearing a panty liner towards the end of pregnancy. So that meant I had to wear underwear. The bikini panties didn't roll down and held up just fine as long as they had a thicker edge at the top.

  57. When you are pregnant your body and bra size fluctuates and changes as your baby grows. After birth, your body prepares for a successful nursing journey and your bra size fluctuates again. The majority of women experience an increase of two cup sizes up from their pre-pregnancy bra size. If you do not experience a change in your bra size don’t panic, this will not impact your nursing success. The size of your breasts is not related to the amount of milk you can produce.

Please leave a comment, I LOVE hearing from you!

Most of the time I try really hard to respond to comments right in the comments section, I find it more fun and that way other people can join in on the conversation. If you would like for me to write you back instead, just leave your email addy (blogger doesn't always give it to me) and I'll send you a hello!
