we hit up one of our fave local farms for some low down and dirty pumpkin picking on the weekend. we got covered in mud, wheelbarrowed ourselves silly, picked out a momma, poppa and baby pumpkin and took lots and lots of pictures.i wanted to make some roasted pumpkin seeds but have yet to find a recipe i really enjoy. anyone have any great tips/recipes for using pumpkin seeds? i would love to hear about it! we also did some spooky carving as well, but our lazy butts haven't taken a picture of them yet....hopefully we'll stop eating candy long enough to get a shot of those - we think they turned out spooktacular!!!!
what are your halloween plans this year? what did you carve your pumpkins as?

Adorable photos in the pumpkin patch! Love those boots! We haven't been yet because every time we get a chance the weather is nasty!
ReplyDeleteAs a kid my mom always had us rinse and wash the seeds and then she baked them for 20-30 minutes. When they came out of the oven we sprinkled on salt or cinnamon and sugar! Delicious! I haven't had pumpkin seeds in years but I have great memories of eating them as a kid.
We are taking the girls dresses as Sherri and Terri from the Simpsons to our neighborhood's costume parade and party tomorrow night and then handing out candy on Saturday to the trick-or-treaters.
Thanks Misha! We lucked out with the good weather that day cause now it's pouring and storming. I hope you get a chance to get out there.
ReplyDeleteI love the costume idea! Your twins are so precious! Happy 1st Bday to them and thanks for the recipe!

ReplyDeleteShe is so photogenic~ the camera loves her! I LOVE her boots!!!
We just carved our pumpkins last night...one is a mouse and the other is a swine-o-lantern in light of the whole H1N1 thing, my husband and son thought that would be "scary"
Have a Safe and Happy Halloween!
Thanks Laurie Anne! Her boots are from Joe Fresh at Superstore - you can't beat their kids line there - such cute stuff!

ReplyDeletewell we carved the mouth of our scary-face pumpkin way too big around and it ended up slowly deforming the pumpkin. Now it's just a face with a major over-bite, hahaha!
Hahaha, Vely, that's hilarious!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip Jessica.
She is adorable! I hope you are feeling better (at least to enjoy a good dose of CANDY!).
ReplyDeleteCute, cute, cute! I love those boots, where can I get some?! We have yet to carve our pumpkins. We grew our own this year and I don't have the heart to cut into them. The kids are begging to! I hope you are feeling better. I just found out I'm pregnant and the nausea just kicked in. I wish I could enjoy the candy, but everything tastes and smells disgusting to me right now. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteOkay, so how cute is your daughter??? Adorable! Love her boots too! Where did you get them from? I hope you are feeling better!
ReplyDeleteMauri - Congrats!!!! Another little wee one to add to your gorgeous family! If you wanna commiserate on the naseau thing, shoot me an email, it's been a rough ride...haha, I'm sure we have lots to chat about :)

Shannon, I'm LOVING these photos! Her green vest is the perfect compliment to all the squash colors. Very cute. And her hair looks long and straight! She's such a doll.

gorging myself with candy and pumpkin soup. those are the plans
ReplyDeletedo you know about the pumpkin yard in Fernwood? I just heard about it today from Diane, who carved one of the pumpkins. It is happening in one of the organizer's yards at her home, and is at Fernwood and Bay. It is happening tonight (friday) and tomorrow from 5:30 on. I hope we make it tomorrow night.
