{image anita canita}

ok all you fellow sewers out there, i need your help! i am on the hunt for a free tutorial to make a cute outfit for a baby girl size 3 months or 6 months (i prefer 3 mths). i've been noticing a fair bit of stuff toddler sized stuff and tutes starting at around 6mths or so, but i really want to make something for a friend of mine's baby that would be for size 3mths. any hints for me? dress? skirt? top? i'm game! comment away, i could use your help :)
also the next "top tutorials week" is coming up soon! it will hopefully be running near the end of sept/early october. make sure to get your emails in to luvinthemommyhood@yahoo.ca if you have a new tutorial that you would like featured in our "link luv roundup" to make it in the running for the summer session of "top tuturials week" here on luvinthemommyhood. i can't wait to see what you've all been making!

  1. i jsut made a dress for my 4 month old using a onesie that was too short on her but still fit up top, and one of my old t-shirts. I cut the bottom on the onesie off and gathered the tshirt to make a skirt. sewed the two together and you have an instant baby dress. You could even leave the onsie intact and sew a skirt to it for one of those awesome onsie dresses, that way the dress doesnt ride up to her arm pits

  4. How about a little pinafore that will take you literally 1/2 hour? This one is great and free from Alicia at MayFly:

  6. I LOVE this one for a tiny baby, have been looking for an excuse to make it! They show you how to make an infant gown from an old t-shirt, but you could really use any knit fabric...

  11. you could probably use the 6 month old tutorials you have found and just make them smaller to suit? That way if you've seen something you already like it's just a case of adapting the pattern for the size that you need. :)

  12. I did a tutorial on applique onesie that had the saying, "Passion Patrol" on it. You can check my site and look under the tutorial page. www.simplymodernmom.com.

  13. I can vouch for the T-shirt to Newborn gown -- I've made two and they turn out fabulous. I have been looking for baby boy patterns (I'm due with a boy in Dec) but have come across SO many cute baby girl patterns in the process. I wish I'd bookmarked them! I did find this great baby shoe template from Martha Stewart http://www.marthastewart.com/good-things/felt-baby-shoes?backto=true

  16. I asked Susan Fries about it and she said that she started the fairy garden awhile back and now all the neighborhood children were involved. Little treasures and pretty stones were regularly discovered there.
