sewing, sewing, and more sewing

{image: craftapalooza}

i headed out very early yesterday morning to hit up fabricland's 50-70% member sale. i got some new goodies (finally a loop turner!), stood in several lines for a very long time, lost and found elmo (twice) and came out happy (with no little one tears) and with a few projects on the go. there won't be a fit friday in the mommyhood today due to my sewing frenzy - meaning no computer time, mixed in with a brand new potty training toddler (more on that later). sometimes i feel the need to just sew and yesterday was one of them.

here's what i'm up to:

* a new tutorial for the "newbie sewing series" - this is a fun one, perfect for summer!

* a dress for my best friend's daughters birthday - i'm making the enlarged version of the "itty bitty dress" from made by rae. i am loving the pattern and am almost done. it was my first time using piping and bias tape - quite the experience..haha. i will post pictures after the weekend.

* a dress for mackenzie - i need to use up some adorable owl material i have been scared to sew with. not sure which pattern to use, any suggestions for a great size 2 dress that's free?

* a dress for me - yes, this is the one that i am needing all that lovely pattern 9-1-1 help you all so lovingly gave me. i need to have "letter b" done in 2 weeks or so for our summer holiday.

* a wedding gift for some dear friends - can't say what that is on here because they may read it...wink wink.

* and a new tutorial for the "remake, repurpose, refashion" column on nouvelle mama. i luv this little project and hope you all will to. it's done, but i can't post it until next week - so stay tuned!

what are you sewing right now? fill me in, i love hearing what you are all making at the moment!

  1. You just don't know how much I envy you the luxury of walking into a fabric store, besides the cheap stuff at WM. Notions!!

I'm making a puppet theatre to hang inside the door for my youngest granddaughter and waiting on my chalk cloth order to arrive to make something for her out of that too.

I keep making excuses to go past the post office to check mail!

  2. Wren - That puppet theatre sure sounds great! What a good idea! Have you made one before?
Going to fabricland is handy, but honestly, there service is horrible and the only time I go there is when there is a good sale.
Where did you order the chalk cloth from?

  3. I haven't started anything new yet, but I'm waiting on a pattern for a new bag, and I have some pretty green fabric to make either a shirred dress or bag out of. I haven't decided which to use for what. :)

  4. Mommafo - Which bag are you planning on making? I say go for the dress with the green fabric. It would look great on you.

  5. I really like your dress, greek statue type. What fabric are you using for it?

I have a zillion things I'd love to be making right now, but my machine is dead...I haveta go figure out what happened. :( But I did start knitting a simple garter stitch scarf, just to keep my hands busy!

  6. Snowbird - I think I am going to use a cotton for it as I am making it for summer time. I love to knit as well and if I wasn't sewing I would be knitting :) I hope you get your machine fixed, I am dreading the day mine has a problem, I am still learning how to work the thing..haha.
